Club lacrosse is a complete money grab!

too many parents are buying into the club lacrosse promise of "college greatness" etc. etc.

hate to break it to you, there is hardly any money in student aid at the college level and maybe only half the D1 schools I would even consider sending my son to.

Several of the D1 programs are schools that I have never even heard of.

There is zero money for D3. But the D3 schools include some of the best colleges in the country. Lacrosse, next to crew, is the best way to get a white male a "hook" into a great school he might otherwise not be admitted. Clubs help kids develop and get exposure and will advocate for your son. Yeah, there are some real jerks running clubs out there. There are also some who aren't so bad. Bottom line, club lacrosse for college recruitment is a necessary evil, especially if your son is not playing for a private school in the MCAC or IAC or Zaga.

Actually, there is a lot of money for D3. It's just in the form of academic scholarships instead of athletic ones. But, many of the D3 schools that award merit-based aid use them like the D1 schools use the athletic money. There are D1 and D3 schools that don't give merit-based aid, though some of them grant "leadership" scholarships and the like. And, some schools are straight need-based at both levels. Finding scholarship money is more school-dependent than it is D1 or D3 dependent.

where are the 2022's going to high school?

several of the 2022's are current Landon 8th graders.

There are a few Mater Dei kids on the roster as well and some kids who might end up either Churchill, Whitman or Bullis.

?

You mean where are some of the 2022 kids from the clubs going to high school?

I think the answer is everywhere, public and private.

As far as privates, PVI, Heights, Zaga have 2022s who play competitive club. In the IAC, Bullis, Landon, St Albans, SSSA and Prep have 2022s (in some cases many) playing for DCE, Madlax, Crabs, VLC and Next Level. Don't know anything about Blackwolf. Those dudes are always shrouded in secrecy.

PP, you mean 2022s not 2021s (who are currently in 9th grade)? If you are talking about 8th graders, the admissions season is ongoing. But I think it's a fair assumption that all the schools mentioned above will admit students from the various clubs mentioned, some more than others, as Bullis has a DCE connection, PVI has a VLC connection, the Heights a NL connection, etc.

the Heights is pretty average in lacrosse.

While NL is run by the Heights head coach, the best players in NL typically end up at either Landon or Gonzaga.

If any club is affiliated with a HS program it would have to be VLC and its ties to Paul VI.

I think the VLC - PVI connection is less strong than it was a few years ago.

And will the move to Loudoun continue the disconnect?
