Oh yes. A family friend of theirs came in a few pages back and INSISTED it happened and shamed us all. family friend, where are you? |
| Now a British Olympian is coming out saying he was robbed at gunpoint. That is all that has been released now. I hope this dude has already left the country. |
|
Seems like there was extortion on the part of this security guard. Of course, the Rio officials are saying this guard did nothing wrong.
I hope all our athletes make it home safely. |
One of the Australian swimmers was robbed, bit not at gunpoint. Note to self: when in Rio, be very very careful. |
Yep, sounds like a shakedown. Nothing wrong with that. |
I don't think anyone comes out of this smelling like roses. Why Brazil decided it was a good idea to make it into a major international brouhaha is beyond me. |
By making this a major brouhaha it directs attention away from all of the things that have gone poorly there. |
Hahaha. So true can't stop laughing. I imagine that poster having an only child, a boy, around the age of 2.
|
Because they were robbed. People held guns on them and took their money. Not complicated. |
Destruction of property? I'm sure there is someone somewhere in jail for this. A minority, no doubt. |
Agree. Maybe no one here was an angel. But generally Americans who find a gun pointed at them and cash demanded from them are going to consider it a robbery. |
|
The video has chunks missing from it. You can see the guys getting out of the cab, wallets in hand, and walking off camera. Nothing they did before they got into the car indicates they were trying to escape from a wrongdoing or even talking to anyone about it.
I think it really was a shakedown, with more than one perpetrator and all wearing uniforms for the gas station. Lochte told his girlfriend and/or mom, who embellished to get press interest. |
I agree it was a shakedown. I can understand why the swimmers said they were robbed - money was taken from them by force. In my mind, that is a robbery. And, the Rio chief of police indicated that the security guard who pointed a gun at the swimmers was justified in doing so. Really? The fact that the video has footage missing makes me suspicious. The press conference that the Rio police just held makes me even more suspicious. I don’t trust them. |
I can't tell you how happy I am the athletes weren't minorities. Thank God! The things that would be said would've been far worse than the things said about the two Simones whose crimes were winning gold and being minority. |
Can we please let ONE thread NOT be about racism? Please? |
