Elon letting people buy blue checks makes it really hard to believe anything you’re seeing over there.

Maybe don't use Twitter as a "news" source?

Traditional media has gutted their international coverage. Last night as this was breaking corporate media was still talking about the billionaire submarine!

It's all over the papers today. Did it occur to you that real reporting takes time?

25 years ago, the major American networks, newspapers and CNN and bureaus all over the world. Today they don't. That is the issue.

However, in the last 5 hours, Wagner is now about 6 or 7 hours South of Moscow. Keep up!

Meanwhile, on the Alternative Reality Network

Stop watching Fox News. It is, through and through, a Russian propaganda network.

Ooh. If I rely on Fox News, can I sue them for spreading lies?

Does it just not translate? Is it lost in translation?

That's how official Russians speak. It's all gobbledygook because none of them know what's happening in the Kremlin so they have to be careful not to say anything that might get them in trouble with whomever wins. The same thing happens in all kleptocracies.

It's now only an hour or two while Kadryov's units are closing in on Rostov but are stuck in traffic.

Evacuating the State Tretyakov Gallery art museum in Moscow, in response to the Mayor's order for everyone to stay off the streets and go home.

Pretty much. Combine that with a lack of official sources so that everything comes from crowd sourcing, in this case, on Telegram. I don't need a j-school grad to translate a telegram post.

The deep cover Russian agents and pro-Russian US traitors must be dropping a load right now. They know that any 'power-shift' will be followed by the obligatory 'loyalist purge'.

Actually, they're now about 2 hours south of Moscow.

It’s like the start of the war, when we went to bed in a relatively familiar (but nonetheless terrible) situation, and the next morning you’re insanely scared for the lives of your loved ones.

At first, I thought this was just another hoax, but in the morning [on Saturday], I realized we’re living through another historic day. I never supported the Putin regime, but the prospect of rule-by-sledgehammer in our country horrifies me.

It’ll be the same story as when the Russian army challenge the military and economic strength of NATO — defeat. It’s not hard to guess what result this rebellion will have on the front lines.

I go to bed at around midnight [on Friday], look at the news like I always do, and I can’t believe what’s happening. At about 1:00 a.m., my 15-year-old sister comes out of her room and knocks on the bathroom door, saying, “Mom, mom, come out, the civil war has started.”

Excellent. Let them start to get a taste of what they put Ukraine through. Did they think these Wagner guys rolled up to Ukrainian homes with bouquets of roses? No, they came for murder and rape.

They're mercenaries which are historically unreliable forces. They struggled against Ukrainians. If things remain easy for them, they'll do ok, but if the going gets tough, they'll probably fold.

Woohoo - Amanpour is now taking the lead on CNN. Finally some real news/reporters. Now get Hertling on as a guest and we can get some actual insight.

Social media has been an excellent place for near-instant updates from places where news is happening.

At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, it was the way Ukrainians were getting and sharing news.

On January 6, social media was getting us info from people inside the Capitol and the idiots in the crowd.

It’s been this way for over a decade. I guess you’d rather wait for the newspaper to arrive or for a news station to decide an event is worthy of an update?

Musk ruined Twitter in many ways and this is one of the.

Broadcast news has become a joke. Slow and facile.

Print news isn't much better

But some people like well developed articles, in-depth reporting, and nuance. None of that exists on twitter. It’s a sh*tty wasteland of MAGA and unbearable liberals who can’t handle humor or different opinions like the MAGA.

This is true if you're a casual observer. I've been following Ukraine news very closely since the invasion. I created a list in my Twitter account of sources I trust who are very careful about what they tweet and retweet-- sources like Anne Applebaum, Tom Nichols, Julia Ioffe, sources associated with Meduza, Bellingcat, etc.

I hate that Elon Musk has reduced the reliability, and hence utility, for the public. It's a tragic loss.

Fold? The brutal units that took Bakhmut? lol. Oh, cupcake. No. These are hardcore bada$$e$. The guys who take sledgehammers to the heads of traitors who cross them. Once word of this spreads along the Russian front-line troops in Ukraine, it will likely cause a panic.

"The Wagner Group, a private army of mercenaries, appears to have shot down one of Russia’s most advanced attack helicopters in the Voronezh region"
"wreckage, identified as a Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter with the serial number RF-13418 and bort number Yellow 72"
"Russian Armed Forces already have lost at least six helicopters and one aircraft in one day. Russia has potentially lost 3 Mi-8MTPR electronic warfare helicopters, one Mi-8 in utility configuration, one Ka-52 attack helicopter, one Mi-35 Hind and one Il-22 Coot airborne command post and electronic warfare aircraft"
https://defence-blog.com/russian-mercenaries-shot-down-ka-52-helicopter/

Wagner seems to have helped down more aircraft in one day than the Ukrainians?
