Elon letting people buy blue checks makes it really hard to believe anything you’re seeing over there.

Maybe don't use Twitter as a "news" source?

Social media has been an excellent place for near-instant updates from places where news is happening.

At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, it was the way Ukrainians were getting and sharing news.

On January 6, social media was getting us info from people inside the Capitol and the idiots in the crowd.

It’s been this way for over a decade. I guess you’d rather wait for the newspaper to arrive or for a news station to decide an event is worthy of an update?

Musk ruined Twitter in many ways and this is one of the.

Broadcast news has become a joke. Slow and facile.

Print news isn't much better

But some people like well developed articles, in-depth reporting, and nuance. None of that exists on twitter. It’s a sh*tty wasteland of MAGA and unbearable liberals who can’t handle humor or different opinions like the MAGA.

Let's think about this a moment. Wagner is positioned south of Moscow on the main supply line to the Ukrainian front. If supplies and ammunition can't traverse the main highways, I wonder how long the Russian troops along the Ukrainian front can hold out? Any Russian supply depot West of M-4 must be pure gold right now. The question is 'how many days'?

I am too. On the plus side, Trump possibly has just lost a place to flee from justice.

Also, a major source of his funding and propaganda/disinformation

Traditional media has gutted their international coverage. Last night as this was breaking corporate media was still talking about the billionaire submarine!

I do too. It's a shame that that doesn't exist anymore.

Is this the three-day "special military operation" that Putin promised us?

Almost every well-developed article with in-depth reporting that I read was linked to by someone I respect on Twitter.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that Monday, June 26, will be a non-working day in the capital. His words are quoted by the Moscow agency.
“Dear citizens, a counter-terrorist operation regime has been declared in Moscow. The situation is difficult. In order to minimize risks, I, within the framework of the operational headquarters, decided to declare Monday a non-working day - with the exception of government bodies and enterprises of a continuous cycle, the military-industrial complex, city services, ”said the mayor.

"the Rostov National Guardsmen were blocked in vehicles for transporting fighters, and SOBR and OMON were at the bases."

Nope. The invasion was created to salve Putin's desire to restitch the USSR and he thought it would happen in a matter of days, and has doubled down since.

This will get a lot worse for Russia, and it has domestic implications for the GOP- they will lose their funding and IRA support, and likely internal Russian proof of the alliance between Russia and the GOP will be exposed.

If I were Tulsi Gabbard RFK Jr. and the like, I wouldn't be sitting too comfortably either.

This. And a few members off Congress should be nervous. How is Rand Paul doing this morning?

Why do translations of “official” statements in russian always look like beuracratic gobbledygook. It’s like words don’t have any meaning. I understand the point of the above statement from the mayor, but it’s very weird.
Does it just not translate? Is it lost in translation?

It's all over the papers today. Did it occur to you that real reporting takes time?

"earlier today, Putin’s Il96-300PU took off from Moscow in the direction of St. Petersburg"
"the second presidential plane Tu-214PU took off from Moscow to St. Petersburg at 14:44"
"Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov flew from Moscow to Turkey"
"while the Russian elites on private jets are leaving Moscow en masse, air travel prices in Russia for ordinary residents have risen 20 times . There are only a few tickets left with a transfer or two, and a direct flight to Yerevan (Armenia) costs 198,000 rubles (usually it costs about 10 thousand rubles)."
"In turn, the stations in Rostov-on-Don, captured by the Wagner PMC, are overflowing with people who want to leave the city . The railway and bus stations of the city are packed with people, there is not enough transport. Frightened Rostovites prefer to land in any direction, just to leave the city."
"The Kremlin does not have serious military reserves in the capital area, so scattered units of the Chechens, the Russian Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB will defend Moscow."
