Why do you think the shooter was white?

Geography, demography, and sociology make it a safe bet. Not a sure bet, but a safe bet.

Surprise! He’s white!

And check out his parents. https://www.thedailybeast.com/ethan-crumbley-identified-as-oxford-high-school-michigan-mass-shooter

Their "sweet boy" (always this) doesn't just "snap" - the parents know damn well about their kid's propensity to snap, and failed every one of the deceased's families when the shooter's parents decided to do anything else but help their own kid. Disgusting.

They grew up in this world and the parents encouraged it. They knew their kid had problems and instead of them changing, they bought guns.

There is no way for the teachers and administrators to be able to know and nurture these kids (yes kids in high school still need nurturing). The counseling offices are understaffed such that when you have a situation with bullying or alleged bullying no one in power even really knows these kids or knows what is going on. I truly believe that a lot of the social problems we have with kids today could be solved with smaller, community schools.

1800 is "Giant?" When I saw that number in a news article, my first thought was that it's a smaller high school!

I don't remember exactly how many were in my high school (early 90s) but I know my class had over 600, and was a smaller class than the grades below mine--so it was at least over 2400.
My kid's high school (public in VA) has over 2500, and isn't even the biggest high school in our district.

I’m a teacher. I shouldn’t have watched that. This is my biggest nightmare. I feel sick. Those poor children

This is fake news. The Sheriff today confirmed that was actually one of his deputies sweeping the school.

I disagree. The person who knocked at the door used the term "bro".

He might not want to use "bro" in a professional situation. That's what made the kids (reasonably) suspicious of him.

That’s not science.

I would bet anything he was being tormented at school for being poor, pudgy, and unathletic. Bullying is so freaking cruel and typically nobody at large high schools gives a damn.

This.

Most school and workplace shootings don’t happen in a vacuum. These kids lash out in these cases because they’ve been teased, bullied and ostracized their whole lives, and they reach their breaking point and go supernova.

Seemed a harmless little f@@k
But we unleashed the lion…. “

Bullying is the most evil, destructive thing kids can do. Because it creates Jeremy’s.

And shame on all of you here who so casually offhandedly dismiss any discussion of motive. You are disgusting, and a bully. And your own kids are probably bullies as well. You see things like this and it scares you, because it makes you consider the things you did to other children when you were younger. Or what you suspect your own kids are doing to a classmate right now. You think about what would happen if one of their victims snaps. You don’t actually care about the victim - you just care about that victim lashing out.

That’s why so many here are made so uncomfortable about any discussion of motive. And why you try to shutter any post about it.

Love to you PP. You are correct.

Sorry PP, but it’s not that simple. The vast vast majority of kids who are bullied- which is most of us at one point or another- grow up into mature adults and would never even dream of doing something like this. There is something else going on here.

Typical problematic parents trying to pawn off problematic kids on the school system. Great job!

People faught hard for “integrated” schools. There is no where to put the problem kids. And legally they are entitled to an education. Had this not happened that was the schools plan? Suspend him for a week for making the video? A month? Then he is back as school, rinse and repeat.

But it’s still chilling. Sheriff is outside door but you still are not sure.

The kids ran out of the room and right back into the building where the police officers were. Obviously it was not the shooter.

So weird some pps are leaping to the conclusion that he was mercilessly bullied based on extremely thin evidence and ignoring other kids who say he wasn’t bullied, the fact that victims were random. AND the completely bizarre and disinhibited mom.

I would bet anyone a million dollars that this kid was not bullied, but rather he was radicalized online. Remember how the narrative came out about how the Columbine shooters were bullied by the "white hat" jocks? It was all bullshit. They were virulent white supremacists and posted it all online.

He didn't have to be returned to that school - he had no "right" to return to that school - had his plan been uncovered before he actually killed some children. When you devise a way to terrorize the school - you lose.

BINGO. No one wants to hear the truth - these parents created a monster. Period. Not the only one.

Sorry no. Lots of kids have terrible parents, or conservative parents, or mentally ill parents. No amount of type of parenting causes your kid to shoot up a school.
