Brought up mass shootings less than 24 hours ago and someone got the posts deleted.

But yeah...3 dead and 8 shot in a high school - terrible situation. What is the local community doing to stop these insane shootings?

“I’m walking, and almost to my classroom,” Tebben told The Detroit News. “I hear kids running at me, then gunshots going off."

Tebben said a friend of her boyfriend, Josh Couch, grabbed her hand and told her to run.

"I’m running and I see blood all over the floor. I run out into the parking lot and get in my truck and drive here” to the reunification area, she told The News.

It was a nerve-racking experience that she said left her shaking. Not only for what had happened but the uncertainty.

That video. Ugh. These poor kids are in school, masked, living through a pandemic at their school which is now the scene of mass murder.

We need gun control. America, the most powerful nation on earth, is not as civilized as the other first world nations, who without exception, all regulate firearms extremely tightly.

How about a law that gives a parent/guardian of any child who uses a weapon in their house to conduct a mass shooting in a public facility - school, airport, hospital etc - 12 months of incarceration for every individual they shoot.

I'm betting these school shootings would stop then. Those guns would disappear from these households overnight. This kid is 15, there is no way he got a weapon from anyone else but one that was already in his household's possession.

Incredible. Some kids heard there was going to be shooting and stayed home. They knew about it before hand. I don't blame the kids but what was the administration and the teachers doing regarding these rumors? Where were the parents?

A concerned parent, Robin Redding, said her son, Treshan Bryant, is a 12th grader at the school but stayed home on Tuesday. She said he had heard threats that there could be a shooting.

“This couldn’t be just random,” she said.

Redding didn’t provide specifics about what her son had heard, but she expressed concern with school safety in general.

“Kids just, like they’re just mad at each other at this school,” she said.

Bryant said he texted several younger cousins in the morning and they said they didn’t want to go to school, and he got a bad feeling. He asked his mom if he could do his assignments online.

Bryant said he had heard vague threats “for a long time now” about plans for a shooting at the school.

“You’re not supposed to play about that,” he said of the threats. “This is real life.”

I think holding them personally liable and piercing any erisa, homestead, or trust protections would be a start. One year per victim sounds like a starting point too.
