Republicans did nothing after a classroom of 6 year olds were slaughtered by a man with a gun. I knew at that moment that there would be nothing that would sway them. They are evil. Shame on you if you align yourself with these killers. Shame on you!

A concerned parent, Robin Redding, said her son, Treshan Bryant, is a 12th grader at the school but stayed home on Tuesday. She said he had heard threats that there could be a shooting.

“This couldn’t be just random,” she said.

Redding didn’t provide specifics about what her son had heard, but she expressed concern with school safety in general.

“Kids just, like they’re just mad at each other at this school,” she said.

Bryant said he texted several younger cousins in the morning and they said they didn’t want to go to school, and he got a bad feeling. He asked his mom if he could do his assignments online.

Bryant said he had heard vague threats “for a long time now” about plans for a shooting at the school.

“You’re not supposed to play about that,” he said of the threats. “This is real life.”
Did the kids who stayed home or their parents report the threats to anyone? I’m looking, but can’t find anything yet that says they did.

If it follows the usual pattern cops and administrators will insist they had no way of knows and then it will trickle out that there were multiple red flags and direct warnings.

Another sacrifice at the alter of the 2nd amendment. Must be God’s will or something. Thoughts, prayers, blame, maybe they deserved it, blah blah blah. How dare Democrats make this political. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

I miss anything?

My sentiments exactly. If the killing of the 6-year olds didn’t change things, nothing will.

He sounded black. Or Hispanic. Not white.

This is a sick white people problem. Nothing will change until white people get their act together when it comes to guns. Too many white people feel marginalized and see gun ownership as a way to be powerful in their small, insignificant lives.

As a white man, this is my responsibility to fix this. Because people of color will NEVER convince sick white people to give up their guns or meaningfully restrict access.

I'm betting these school shootings would stop then. Those guns would disappear from these households overnight. This kid is 15, there is no way he got a weapon from anyone else but one that was already in his household's possession.

Twelve months? How about life?

How about we do what every other developed nation has done and institute gun control?

One of the articles said the following, noting that police specifically praised the help of the school SRO. Please bring them back.

“The suspected shooter, a sophomore at the school, was arrested within five minutes of the original call, police said and added an on-scene school resource officer assisted in nabbing him.”

This is actually a pretty interesting policy idea. I’d love to see it implemented.

The problem is - how do you fix this. Beto O'Rourke has already announced he's for restricting assault weapons and permitless carry in Texas in his race for Governor and he's basically being laughed off the platform?
