A post-Trippi Bullis will be just fine with their lateral pickups. A post-Shockey Landon could mean a few more losses this year for the Bears. SSSA will definitely be strong. EHS not so much. Their superstar simply cannot carry the entire team in the gauntlet that is the IAC. St Albans could be interesting to watch. When I saw them play last year, their offense had a lot of flash and at least 3 guys who could consistently put it in the cage. And they have a terrific FOGO. Though with the graduation of their talented goalie and their starting poles, the offense will need to put up double digit goals every time to have a chance of winning a game in the IAC. PVI is looking sharp this fall and should win every WCAC game. St John's had a great rookie season for the new coach. Seems like he knows his stuff, but too much talent lost to graduation to be able to compete with anyone but GC. |
| Haha fake news-PVI will not beat GZ. |
| St Andrews seems to be working hard to develop their lacrosse program. How do they stack up against other teams? |
|
PVI is the worst coached team in the area. Too bad fall ball doesn’t count! The WCAC will be a toss up betweeen Gonzaga and SJC.
STA is bad! When was the last team they finished above last place in the IAC? They made a weak hire. The IAC will come down between Landon and IMG Mimi academy. Don’t be surprised if either Saint Stephens or GP knocks off either the Bears or Bulldogs and make some noise in the IAC. |
PVI looks great every Fall and then nothing. It’s amazing how many players PVI has and can’t do anything. There is something wrong at that school, how do they practice, with baseballs? LOL WCAC will be a rematch of St John’s and Gonzaga. |
| Landon is overrated, and will lose to Bullis. The team as a whole was also overrated last year but winning every face off gave them an advantage over teams. That advantage is gone. Furthermore, they didn't play any of the top miaa teams. Calvert Hall would have destroyed them. Prediction: Bullis wins iac, and gonzaga returns to the top of wcac. St johns, after a fluke season, will settle comfortably back to the middle of the wcac. |

Landon had 3 Under Armour All Americans last year and played a top 10 national strength of schedule. They were ranked number in the country by several publications. Calling the team from last spring overrated shows how little you know.
If you saw the 2nd Bullis game last year, Landon showed just how dominate they were. While they graduated their FOGO, they bring back 2 starting defensemenz, 2 starting attackmen, and their first midfield from last year. They should be very good this spring but I expect them to have a few loses sounder their belt. Unlike Bullis, they didn't need to go out and "buy" a team of transfers this summer. How many lacrosse transfers did Bullis bring in this summer... 6? |

Do you think Bullis goes out looking for players OR do the players want to come to Bullis. Bullis offers great facilities (athletic and academic) an experienced coaching staff, and has been on a very successful run in lacrosse over the past few years. You can't deny that players have flocked to the program recently. If you are an excellent lacrosse player and you are unhappy at your current school where else would you go?
Landon? nope, too much talent on bench and would be very difficult to get playing time Prep? nope, Mater Dei pipeline and another deep bench SSSA? nope, new coach has turned many players and families to look elsewhere St Alban's? nope, recent coaching changes has led to less continuity and has hurt talent Gonzaga? nope, they have over 100 players in program DeMatha? Yes, Program is moving in right direction St John's? Yes, New coach=New energy O'Connell? Yes Kevin Giblin hopes to compete in top 3 in WCAC soon Once the word gets out that transfers are welcome at a school, then more players will inquire and apply. Bullis also built a new academic building thus Bullis has room to accept more applicants due to an increase in enrollment. I don't think any other school in the area has the ability to accept over a hundred new students due to their restrictions in enrollment. Negative comments have been made about Bullis but their lacrosse program has been on the upswing and their players have gone to some of the best colleges in the country. I prefer that schools have players for their entire high school experience at one school, but families move their kids for a whole host of reasons. Bullis may not be for everyone but it has worked out very well for many players and families. |
Landon was not overrated last year, they were an outstanding team with no weaknesses and possibly one of Landon's best teams of all time. The poster may be pointing out that without Shockey Landon may not of gone undefeated, but then again if a bird did not have wings it would not be a good flyer. But birds do have wings and Landon did have Shockey. BTW-Shockey is leaving Navy and heading to UMD and Buller is leaving Navy also and heading to another D1 school. I guess the disciplined Navy life was not for them. |
| What about Good Counsel? |
| Good Counsel should be an excellent place for a lacrosse player. For some reason they have been trending down over the past couple of years. Same coach, not sure what is going on in Olney? |
Coaching is really really really bad. Kids still go to "academic" D3 schools or just decide not to play in college. |
If GC players are regularly getting recruited by "academic" D3 schools, I say good for the players and the school. I've always thought D1 lax is way overrated, unless you are playing on a top 20 team, and actually getting playing time. Otherwise, you're just practice fooder, and it's a grind that takes away from a full college experience. D3 sports should be the model for most in my view. |
| I agree that I'd rather go to excellent D3 school and play lax rather then sitting on the bench at an average D1 school. |
