I follow this story out of morbid curiosity to find out what was the straw the broke the camel's back for her, but all his kids are going to be fine money-wise. The four adult ones have easy lives, probably trust funds already set up for them too. The three younger ones still get to go to their tony private school and do all their uber rich kid extracurricular activities. Most people can gossip and disagree about divorce settlements respectfully. It affects none of us at all.

Of course in a material sense Costner’s kids are better off - but that does not compensate for a soul destroying relationship with one’s father. History is replete with examples of wealthy men destroying their children’s psyches and the wreckage unfolding accordingly. Money is no insulator against profound pain and regret. He broke the news to his kids over Zoom. He’s a de facto crappy and uninvolved dad. He could’ve hopped on his jet and told them in person but he had better things to do.

She sent Kevin a message saying she had filed and how they were going to tell the kids together in person when he got back in 5 days. He decided he didn't want to do it her way and wanted to talk to them alone and and not with her and didn't want to wait five days so he told them over videocall. Apparently he video called with them every day when on location so they are used to this mode of communication. She was angry that he did it that way and not her way of telling them together once he was back home.

Both were concerned the kids would find out from online sources as the divorce filing is public record

That was still an ass move on his part. You hop on the plane immediately, even during a production. I can’t imagine not canceling a business trip for such a personal emergency.

Productions can get shuffled around for 24-30 hours.

Sounds like he handled it the right way since he was concerned about the press. If the ex was concerned about the press and her kids, she could have waited the 5 days for him to return, told him, and then kids while he was there and her attorney was filing.

Depends on what they are filming. Some things can be moved and some can't. Moves sometimes come with very high price tags depending on who and what has been booked for that day.

Yes, and it was upheld. She kept everything including all the houses other than paying him 1.3 million plus 100k a month alimony for 18 months. He had to leave the home he was living in. Her monthly income in 2021 was 1.9 million (the Voice and her talk show) and her child support payments ended up at $45k a month
