I feel bad for the kids to be in the middle of this. I hope he makes an effort to spend time with them now that he no longer lives with their mother.
Yeah, I also feel sorry for teens (13, 14, 15) with a Hollywood royalty dad, living in multiple mansions full of servants, attending the best private schools, who can go to college they want... and will inherit a fortune. I feel sorry for kids who grow up piss poor in Appalachia and Baltimore ghettos. Not teen silver spoons in California whose parents are merely divorcing.
This is a wrong headed comment. Of course in a material sense Costner’s kids are better off - but that does not compensate for a soul destroying relationship with one’s father. History is replete with examples of wealthy men destroying their children’s psyches and the wreckage unfolding accordingly. Money is no insulator against profound pain and regret. If anything those children born with a silver spoon and a neglectful parent are more inclined to self destruction because they often have no driving force other than the desperate need to please Papa, whereas working class and middle class kids have the struggle to survive to distract them.
How do you know he is a terrible, uninvolved parent? A quick google doesn't bring up any negative stories about him and his kids. Are his older kids estranged? Have they spoken out?
He broke the news to his kids over Zoom. He’s a de facto crappy and uninvolved dad. He could’ve hopped on his jet and told them in person but he had better things to do.
Are you close to his ex or something?
