We still do, but we can make the choice to say "yes" to the partners we would like to have sex with. All of those mate selection ties to attraction still apply. This doesn't have anything to do with the number of partners a woman chooses to have during her lifetime.

How old are you? I find it strange that you can talk about the science of reproduction so candidly without considering the enjoyable parts of sex.

The different risks demand different consideration and different decision making around taking on new partners. We also know that increased numbers of partners increases risks of STDs such as HPV which can lead to infertility.

Every time a female has sex with a new partner, she increases (even if slightly) the probability that she may become infertile. She also takes a risk becoming impregnated with a substandard mating partner - which would take away her chance to mate with the best DNA she can. The risks are huge.

Thus, yes - number count is a metric to manage to mitigate these risks in addition to BC, condoms and such.

I am late 30's and love sex. Not sure why that is relevant to the discussion.

It's relevant because you are hyper-focused on risk and give no consideration to the benefits of a healthy sex life, including, but not limited to healthy attitudes about sex. Sensible precautions eliminate the vast majority of the risks. Keep in mind the statistics include those who do not take any precautions.

There's risk to everything. My risk of injury is much higher because I drive to work everyday in a car. I'm not going to start walking to lower that risk. Sensible precautions eliminate the vast majority of that risk.

80 million people have HPV http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2013/p0619-hpv-vaccinations.html

do that many people get in a car accident every year?

the risks are exponentially greater. terrible example.

a healthy sex life does NOT have to include high number counts.

HPV doesn't kill 40K people a year. Car accident do.

HPV causes cancer and infertility. It infects 80 million people. Cancer is limited because of early detection and treatment that doesn't cure but removes the problem area.

Not getting a STD is good motivation to have fewer partners.

Having fewer partners is no guarantee against STDs.

You aren't going to teach your daughter anything about sex and what it means to be a healthy sexual adult?

Or do you just close your eyes and hope she doesn't end up being a stripper?

Lol. Being a stripper does not equate to being promiscuous or a prostitute. The stupidity on this thread is unreal.

You know I'm right. You just can't admit it because of all that rad fem brainwashing.

You can not dispute a single fact in my post.

I don't debate crazy, but here goes. Yes, women and men are biologically different. Our reproductive cycles are different and regulated by different hormones. Can you tell me how long mature sperm live in the epididymis before they die? Oh wait, that was covered in Bio 101, was it? Men, governed by that crazy testosterone, have to ejaculate all that sperm right out into the open, right? Or they get blue balls and die?

Your gender archetypes are misogynistic and designed to subjugate a woman's sexual pleasure. While your argument is nowhere near as exact as Morton's Crania Americana, it seems you both share similar motivations.

For me to suggest that 7-10 partners for a woman lifetime is me trying to subjugate sexual pleasure - you are crazy.

I also think that women should be as wild in the sack as they want. Dominatrix, submissive slave slut, whatever -

but higher partner counts generally lead to bad things and or represent bad things

The poster that said men and women are different sexually is absolutely correct. The purpose of the male orgasm is to ejaculate, which of course is required for procreation. The female orgasm is not required for procreation and is purely for pleasure.

So women are engineered to engage in pleasurable sex, regardless of procreation. Pretty great huh?

Who cares about the life of a sperm?

Its about the quantities of them relative to the quantities of eggs and about the consequences of conception for each gender

In all other areas of your life, you would consider the outcomes and make decisions that way. Different outcomes mean different decisions. Men and women have different outcomes. Different decisions.

Its not misogynistic or oppressive - it just IS

I didnt make these bodies or design the system

Sure if you want to orgasm with out penetration - go for it - but the risk of procreation is there when the dick goes in

I am sorry women, you have been CURSED with gestation and being tied to your offspring in a way that men aren't.

While I didn't particularly like being pregnant, I am absolutely thrilled I was able to give birth and become a mother. It's a level of accomplishment and purpose that men can never have. And I say that as a very ambitious, career oriented woman. Its not a curse and is 10000 worth it some supposed drawbacks in sexual dynamic.

Sexism is expecting women to remain chaste while cheering on men to have as many partners as possible.

Sexism is a ridiculous notion to apply to this matter.

Should men and women be able to vote? yes.

Should they be able to have the same jobs and get paid the same? yes.

Should they have choices as to what they want to do with their life SAHM/WOHM? yes.

Should they be considered the same sexually as men with the same risk/reward profile? NO.

It just ISNT the same, and its not a prejudice, its acknowledging of reality.

What happens when a young male has a few partners in high school and everyone knows? And, how about a female in the same situation? The reality is harmful to both men and women.

Men can take some level of responsibility. Women should not be expected or bullied into all of the responsibility. With birth control options, it evens things out a bit.

Yo - I was being sarcastic.

Of course it is a blessing! And of course it comes with other factors to be considered. But jesus, men and women arent the same so sorry everyone!!
