He was obviously trying to sleep with a young female patient, who hours earlier he was asking to touch her privates, then loitered in the room to see her private under the guise of training, then used her chart to cyberstalk her.

He should have been expelled.

And what in the hell do his undergrad grades have to do with their son being an unprofessional creep?

I’d bet anything the lawsuit reveals this was not his first rodeo and his version of this event was full of falsehoods.

This is my read on the situation too. If left unchecked this could have gotten much worse over the years. She did the right thing and so did the school.

Her choices killed a physician who had dedicated his life to helping others. Hopefully she can live with herself.

most doctors are in it for the money and prestige — judging from his glamour shot on the beach, that seems to fit.

Doesn’t matter. He doesn’t get to absolve himself of the consequences of his choices by blaming her for calling him out.

If she were my daughter/sister/friend, I’d tell her she absolutely did the right thing. He was clearly mentally unstable and at a minimum needed to seek ongoing treatment for his lack of coping skills and poor judgement. This profession was not going to work out for him long term anyway if this is how he responded to this. This is just…not normal.

My friend had a bar complaint against him once (a legal ethics complaint, not a sexual complaint.) Friend felt the complaint was bogus, contacted a legal ethics attorney, received advice and was told it would likely be dismissed. It was and that was that.

This is how innocent people respond to things like this.

The patient has a far more solid lawsuit on her hands than the perverted pond scum

They aren’t going to win anything. Throwing money away and amplifying what an unprofessional creep the late son was.

Got to blame someone else. Can't be their son's fault. Go for the deep pocket.

And this guy had a girlfriend yet was hitting on a patient. If the parents were smart, they would have let it go. There is never just one incident.

I agree. They have now opened to door to an assassination of his character. And for what?

Katie Meyers family sued for similar reasons and got a favorable settlement.

They don’t want to hear it. They do not want any accountability for the school or the girl.

For starters a civil lawsuit against a hospital isn’t criminal court. Seems she was sexually harassed by a medical resident, then he used her medical chart to cyberstalk her (HIPPA violation), then he took his life and now his family is suggesting it was her fault??? That’s a lot of trauma!!! $$$

Which is why the school will lose, again. Won't be the first time they lose a lawsuit. Recently got slammed for racial discrimination. I'm sure the PPs would have argued the student just wasn't good enough. But, alas, no.

The family alleges the school effed up. They aren't suing her.

I wouldn’t hold your breath for this university to make a scholarship in honor of an accused sex pest creep.
