It’s that time of year- let’s debate comfortable but not too hideous sandals!

I mean there are less expensive options. I'm not into it because I just think it's a trendy look that will be super dated more quickly than I like to replace shoes.

However I did buy a pair for my tween and they are very practical for her. Functional enough for recess/gym class but feel like a "cute" shoe so she doesn't have to wear sneakers to school every day.

These are the most comfortable sandals ever and I get so many compliments plummets on them. You can wear them with a t-strap or without it.

Do you hang around 70 year olds? Nothing wrong with that but how old are you?

Those are 10000000% old lady shoes. I think we're being trolled on this one.

Right?? Imagine paying 188 for those ugly things. I’m embarrassed for pp.

I wouldn't walk all day in these but they look reasonably supportive for some sightseeing without being hideous. Thoughts?

These I like!

I am sure DCUM will reject these options as ugly and orthopedic, but I have logged 15-20k steps per day on cobblestones and uneven terrain in these:

and these (I did use a silicone based waterproofing spray on the white part of the sole because it can get stained, but I haven't had issues after spraying them).

Birkenstocks also work well for me for long walking days on vaction.

I have seen women look cute in this style of sandal but I am not one -- they look like scrappy clown shoes on me. If I am going to have that much height, I need some kind of wedge to create length.

Don’t buy from nisolo, they are an awful company. Google “nisolo 5 for 5”.

Honestly, none of these are my style but I wouldn't judge someone for wearing them. There are moms at my kid's school who wear stuff like this even though they are my age and while I don't think they are stylish, I'm not like pointing and laughing.

The third one does depress me because of the condition of her feet. My mom's feet have been like that for 30 years and I know it's so uncomfortable and embarrassing for her. She pretty much exclusively wears sneakers or Birkenstocks, and she will wear socks with her Birks because she doesn't want people looking at her feet. It sucks because she feels aesthetic embarrassment over it but it's also just practically and health wise not good -- limiting for mobility, bad for circulation, and for her has been associated with developing diabetes. Please have empathy for people who have bad feet, it is really hard.

It’s not that hard looks wise. Just keep those nasty things in some shoes. When I was pregnant my feet swelled up and looked awful. So I got some shoes a half size up and kept them covered lmfao.

I like these but they are pretty much indistinguishable from Birkenstocks in the model photo, so if people find Birks too dowdy, these won't satisfy them.

I have to say, for Birkenstock style shoes, having thin feet and a tan goes a long way. Like I notice it on my own feet. I wore Arizonas when I was 9 months pregnant in mid summer, and while no one is going to judge a super pregnant lady of her sandals, I HATED how my feet looked in them, all swollen and pale. I had awful cankles because I was retaining water like nobody's business by the end and there wasn't anything cute about that look.

But the next summer I wore the exact same sandals on vacation and suddenly they looked cute, because my feet had returned to their normal size and I had some color. Night and day.

I think the Vejas are cute enough to wear with dresses, etc, but I'd say no to the other ones. Others may differ in opinion, though.

I agree. I think there’s an inverse relationship between comfort and cuteness.

Keens are amazing shoes though. Very functional. I have a closed toe sandal that most people find strange and ugly, but this one shoe works for water sports, hiking, and sightseeing if you have a lot of black in your wardrobe and are into Japanese minimalism. They won’t go with Tuckernuck dresses etc…

I can see the vibe. 20 years ago I had really similar ones made by Teva that were maybe a little more streamlined but they were the most comfortable, least sweaty summer shoe I ever wore. I could even wear them to work (I walk 3 miles on my commute so really need comfy shoes). When they discontinued them. I wished I had bought a case of them like a crazy lady.

I also have a pair of 6 year old Magic tevas.

I have foot pain issues as I get older (in my 50s). I recently discovered Oofos - not to wear out, but to wear as slippers at home to recover from days of long walks when walking around in socks on hardwood floors hurts (sigh). They are amazing!!

When I'm out I tend to wear brands that function like orthotic shoes but don't (to me anyway) look like they come from OrthoFeet. Ecco and Earth both have sandals that work well. Usually I need adjustable straps or sandals that come in narrow sizes.

Lol these are the definition of ortho shoes. These are identical to all the other ugly sandals people keep posting.

I have a different pair of Viviaia shoes and find them weirdly narrow at the front of the foot — my foot is like rolling over so not supported by the footbed. They would be super comfortable if not for that so I wear them but can’t walk very far in them. If you have really narrow feet they might work well for you. I think the shoes are cute enough.

The vejas aren’t good for a lot of walking.

Vejas are horribly uncomfortable IMO.
