It’s that time of year- let’s debate comfortable but not too hideous sandals!

Anyway, I wore these all over Barcelona. They are made of leather and have the look of a classic sandal, but the footbed is actually molded, making them more supportive than a flat sandal and very comfortable for walking. They are pricey, but the quality is there to match and they can take a beating.

Maybe I’m conditioned to walking longer distances in non-orthopedic footwear from living in NYC, but as long as shoes don’t give me blisters I can manage them in most settings.

These don’t look any better than what others have posted. Very basic.

Love these. If I didn't have wide feet I would absolutely order.

Personally I hate the ones with anything between my toes. I can’t imagine why people think those are comfortable but I understand people do. Hard pass from me.

Very ugly. Do you stay out of public in those?

Beautiful people can get away with wearing utilitarian footwear. It seems like this is an alien concept to you!

I’m a big proponanwt of comfy shoes and actually have these but they are really ugly. If you are gojng hiking someplace you need shoes that go in and out of water, like Hawaii or Galapagos, these are perfect, though.

This is what my 95 year old mom wears. I actually think it’s cute but it’s also perfect if you can’t bend over to latch sandals and have massive bunions.

+1 I have shoes just like this for those purposes. They are for rough terrain where your feet might get wet but where it is too hot for regular hiking boots.

I wouldn't take them on a trip to Europe just to help with cobblestones, and I'd feel self-conscious wearing them in a restaurant in a city or a resort town.

Yep exactly!!! If you’re doing that type of outdoor activity these shoes are functional and make sense! No one will be judging you for wearing these on that type of hike. But let’s not pretend these are “cute” for walking around a city. You’ll look ridiculous.

I used to feel that way too. But decided to try Birk Gizehs, thong sandal. It took about 2-3 weeks but now it's my favorite sandal.

These are common in many other parts of the world. Standard footwear in India, for example. Called "chappals".

These might ONLY work for wide feet. I have normal not even especially narrow feet and I never could get the straps to be tight enough around the ankles although they’d squeeze the hell out of your toes. Frustrating shoes I never even could wear them.

^^ I have wide feet but tiny ankles and these would be the worst for me

I don’t think so because the shoe last wouldn’t even be wide enough, toes would be spilling out the side.
