It’s that time of year- let’s debate comfortable but not too hideous sandals!

I see some fisherman sandals there that I might order. Thanks for sharing the link.

Yes, fisherman sandals are what I just ordered from them. Wore them to walk around all day today and super comfortable on first wear.

These might ONLY work for wide feet. I have normal not even especially narrow feet and I never could get the straps to be tight enough around the ankles although they’d squeeze the hell out of your toes. Frustrating shoes I never even could wear them.

I don’t think so because the shoe last wouldn’t even be wide enough, toes would be spilling out the side.

I'm the PP who first reviewed these upthread and really have to reiterate that they take work to figure out. I did eventually figure out how to arrange the straps so they aren't baggy around the ankle and then squeezing my toes. I think partly you have to wear them in a bit until the elastic relaxes a bit.

The ONLY reason I put this much work into them is that I bought them as a backup pair for a week long vacation in Mexico and then the other flat sandals I brought, the buckle broke, so I wore these a lot to avoid wearing heels to the pool and beach (lol). They didn't give me blisters but it was four solid days of wearing them before they didn't feel actively uncomfortable. But now they feel okay. I never recommend them to people for this specific reason though.

Maybe a nicer Teva style like Suicoke or Sandy Laing X Salomon Mary Jane.

Jil Sander and Proenza Schouler also do a nicer 'birkenstock'.

p.s. Fitflop makes a nice Teva style with a little bit of platform. Surprisingly nice and comfortable.

Agree that a white sneaker or simple flat sandal are best, but it’s been too hot for sneakers, and too much walking (even to dinner) for a flat sandal so this is where I’ve landed. Curious if everyone thinks they are terrible?!

Yes--they are very terrible.

These are the ones I wear. They are worn out now after two summers and I came here for some new options, but, after looking at what’s on offer, I’ll probably just buy another pair.

I walked everywhere in these, they are super comfortable. Only issue is that the leather is soft so they don’t last past one season.

I think those are cute with jeans and could also work with shorts or maybe a long hippie style skirt but probably not with a shorter sun dress. Basically the same kind of stuff you could wear birks with but the danskos will have a shorter toothed and better arch support. I had Dansko sandals a million years ago that were really comfortable and lasted forever so I am always a little tempted by that brand.
