And therefore Brown Station ES needs a new principal.

Curious if anybody knows why Brown Station’s principal left in the middle of the year?

She retired.

Next board meeting a week from tomorrow, looking forward to more appointments.

Does DCUM want to make any guesses about appointments for next year?

It’s easier for me to do the secondary level because the elementary schools have so many openings each year. List the MS/HS that are open and I’ll throw names in there from the principal intern pool, APs, etc.

Also, appointments are from April - June as well, just as long as they’re before July 1st.

We know there are openings at Blake and Kennedy, and someone on here said Magruder also, but that was never confirmed. I think Forest Oak and Hallie Wells are the only middle schools we've heard about.

Kennedy - James Allrich
Hallie Wells - whichever acting principal they have now will get the tag removed and become permanent
Blake - Shanay Snead or Sam Levine
I have no idea who would want Forest Oak.

Heard he is stepping down and going back into the classroom.

Any news about SSI? There is a desperate need for a change in administration there.

I know why you’re saying this. While I emphasize with you (and Eastern, especially) on the security issue, your principal and admin can only do something if central office escalates. Unless it’s something where it’s a building issue and the climate is tough, and KB decides to move on, then you’re stuck. You definitely need a new building, though, at the very least. Is there something I’m missing?

What's your guess on virtual academy? Is that considered a plum position?

This is not just about the building being a mess and a big security issue. That will remain no matter who the principal is. It's about KB's complete lack of leadership in the building. There is zero accountability, staff are not supported, no repercussions for students who don't follow rules, the list goes on. I know there are issues in every middle school but KB is all talk and no action.

Understood. Well, I’m just saying that they aren’t going to remove her. It will take a lot, especially since what you’ve described is going on all over the middle school level at MCPS. Other people at different schools can make the same argument.
