Didn’t he retire? He won’t stay permanently then?

He had been at Baltimore County Public Schools recently. Maybe he retired from there and this is a short-term gig.

Didn't he retire from MCPS before that?

He left MCPS for BCPS in 2019.

Any thoughts about ESS? Principal resigned, but too late to get into the selection process for this year so the AP will be acting.

Why does MCPS continue to reward bad behavior? You can move the bad apples around all you want, but what about all of the complaints filed against them at their previous schools?!?

100%
Disappointing, yet unsurprising, to see MCPS ignore complaints from staff. Rewarding the bully is a winning choice.

Please stop being ominous. We have no idea who y’all are referring to, and it doesn’t help anybody. Thanks.

Farquhar

Horrible decision for Paint Branch. Many complaints will be coming in. MCPS DOES NOT CARE about black and brown kids. This principal has a DUI and many complaints.

MCPS folks call it “failing up” when they promote someone they should have removed altogether. It is a shame this is at the expense of black families.

Or look up the "Peter Principle". Happens everywhere.

I just feel as though MCPS would not allow someone to lead a HS, especially one as well known as PB, if they had the issues that are being laid out here. They’d be reassigned to another position that’s very behind the scenes. Not to mention that they just earned a PhD, their kids are out of the house, and they’re obviously trying to rise through.

Unless there’s concrete evidence, I don’t believe this is the place to make these claims. Their Director, the Ombudsman, etc. have publicly available contact information if you’d like to go that route. If someone gets a wind of this, and these claims end up being untrue, it shatters their character.

Also, I know a source in their administration who has worked with him extensively over the past few years. This person is highly talented and respected throughout the county, and if they felt there was a toxic culture, they would’ve transferred.

Their kids out of the house? HMMM You sound like a friend and not a morally sound non biased author. Trust me they move failed and toxic principals around all over the county. Especially into high schools that will cause then to fail purposely. He has had many complaints and maybe he is trying to get away from his indiscretions at his last job. He is toxic, the FMS staff had fear to even bring up the toxicity. A PhD means nothing when you’re morally corrupt. Hey Trump was president. There will always be those that just want to get the job done and don’t care how it happens. I believe his kids are not adults but I won’t get into that. I did hear his secretary was sitting on his lap a few times. What’s more toxic than that?

Lol..this sounds like a hired mole from with mcps.

I concur. Like, at some point, you have to find something more constructive to do with your time.

There is always those that think he is in their corner. That’s why the FMS teachers were scared to complain and you sound like one of them. Or maybe one of the Roberto Clemente staff that he had inappropriate relations with. We are going off topic. The theme is incompetent leaders in schools. Nothing more nothing less. The complaints will come.

No, that's not the theme of this thread. You're welcome to start a new thread to have that discussion.

KR - always a hidden agenda. This board needs to be deleted. The principal you are speaking of will do damage on his own without the choir.

It seemed like the purpose of the thread was to post appointments. It also seems like MCPS is now just making staff members acting leadership without the board approval. Has this always been the case?

The former FMS principal NEVER worked at Clemente. I have no need to support him or "take a side". Find a new thread to address this, or do something else more productive.

Indeed he did under Barkley. He has alot of drunk moments there as well.

Acting appointments don't go through the BOE, only permanent appointments.

Someone started a thread on vacancies in MCPS and a lot of acting leadership makes me nervous as a staff member. Admin has so much decision making that really school specific issues can jeopardize staff morale. Hopefully these moves don't cause anymore major negative impacts for staff.

It's not unusual to have a bunch of acting principals appointed in the summer. Some of them will apply for and get the permanent positions during the coming year.

It won’t be an issue. Many teachers and tenured and acting leaders try not to rock the boat, because even though the job is theirs to lose, they want to be safe.

Does one of them know MCPS middle schools start at 8:15? Or are they just going to ignore the blatant "I am King" attitude that was there and start first period at 8:06? With the info coming out focused on this school and the admin, it will be interesting to see what stays around and what goes.
