Principal appointments 2023

Acting principals (because there's a vacancy that they're filling) do have a good shot. Interns have a good shot at other schools that come available, but not necessarily immediately after their internship ends.

I think he is the principal intern, so he is running the school temporarily as part of that program. I don't think it means he has a lock on the position moving forward; he'll have to apply to become a principal with everyone else.

Good info. What other schools currently have principal interns? Those will likely be the ones to take a position, although not necessarily at the school they are interning at.

Principal interns are at Blake, Churchill, Damascus, and Gaithersburg HS, Parkland and Redland MS, and Glenallan, Goshen, Maryvale, Matsunaga, and Woodlin ES.

I wish Forest Knolls would get a new principal.

Really? I have heard rumors about that too but didn’t think she would

She said so at a PTA meeting last year and said this year would be "the year of Jody."

We had several principal interns at Rosemary Hills and didn't have any of them actually get the job once the principal left. I think it's just a training opportunity, not indicative of whether they will get a job as principal and, if they do, what school they will be assigned to.

Can Washington Grove get a new principal? We are sorely due for one.

StoneMill Elem principal told me 20 years ago she would only be at the school for a year, because she was "destined for better things" and that she "would be moving up in administration quickly"

It's been 20 years she's still there LOL.

I’m sure if the acting principal wants it, she’ll get it. SPED schools are very difficult to fill. Last year the RICA acting principal was officially offered the job and I would expect the same for Rock Terrace. Now whether she wants it is a different question!

I really want to ask her is she's going to apply. She has tons of special needs experience so I would think she would be perfect. I think I'm going to go for it this week and ask her!

Yeah interns don’t get hired at the school they internship at …. However if an intern turns Acting Principal there is a good chance they could get the job I bet (the Goshen elementary example from earlier in this thread)

I wish she would leave. It’s not good for the school if they have the same principal for too many years. Dr. Williams is one of those my way or the highway principals.

I don't think Gupta is the acting for the rest of the year; he's the principal intern right now in the part of the year that the principal intern serves as acting principal for 2 months. After that, the other principal will be back.

Check earlier posts in this thread. The other principal is not coming back. She took another job

The Goshen principal's new job as principal of Clarksburg #9 is effective 1/30, so I would expect an announcement any day now of who the acting principal will be at Goshen, and barring any issues during the internship, it's highly likely to be the current principal intern.

I have zero belief that she is actually retiring -- she hasn't mentioned it since the beginning of school that I've heard of.
