I know why you’re saying this. While I emphasize with you (and Eastern, especially) on the security issue, your principal and admin can only do something if central office escalates. Unless it’s something where it’s a building issue and the climate is tough, and KB decides to move on, then you’re stuck. You definitely need a new building, though, at the very least. Is there something I’m missing?

This is not just about the building being a mess and a big security issue. That will remain no matter who the principal is. It's about KB's complete lack of leadership in the building. There is zero accountability, staff are not supported, no repercussions for students who don't follow rules, the list goes on. I know there are issues in every middle school but KB is all talk and no action.

Understood. Well, I’m just saying that they aren’t going to remove her. It will take a lot, especially since what you’ve described is going on all over the middle school level at MCPS. Other people at different schools can make the same argument.

Do you have an insider scoop or specific knowledge that they won't remove her? Or is it a guess based on standard practices in MCPS? not challenging you just want to understand where you're coming from.

Oh no, please don’t think I interpreted it as a challenge! Asking these questions is healthy, especially for the sake of kids. It’s what I’ve seen overtime in MCPS.

New poster and MCPS employee. They rarely remove principals. I have seen principals be unable to move up from middle to high, I have seen principals get moved to other schools because they had affairs, I have seen principals decide to leave the county, I have seen principals not make the leap from AP or even principal intern to principal, I have seen principals be told to take leave and pull themselves together, but I can think of only two instances when principals were actually terminated. I have worked for awful principals who stick around forever. It’s a pretty crappy job though.

Don't they usually get promoted to Gude?

And the elementary school and high school levels too.

By terminated, do you mean demoted to Assistant Principal at a different school or actually forced to leave MCPS?

So they will move a principal who had an affair but not one who is actually completely ineffective? Wish they could fix it.

Consulting principal is apparently a 4-year rotating position: https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/personnel/classification/descriptions/description.aspx?fn=0555-169
Looks like David Chia was appointed 4 years ago, so maybe he's rotating off.

Does that mean he's likely to go back to being an ES principal? Or maybe a director?

Probably an ES principal. The only one that will be open that I know of is Donna Redmond Jones.

Typically demoted. Sometimes they leave the county though because that’s demoralizing.
