Principal appointments 2023

Last year's thread ( https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1046379.page ) was a good way to keep track of things, so I'm kicking off this year's thread.

I noticed today that job postings for Principal at Burning Tree ES and Ashburton ES are up. Which other schools currently have acting principals?

I believe Somerset ES is also still an acting….

Brown Station ES and Martin Luther King Jr MS have acting principals too.

The Chevy Chase ES principal has said she is retiring at the end of this year, though I'll believe it when I see it.

Stephanie Dinga, current principal at Goshen ES, was recently appointed as the new Clarksburg ES #9 principal starting this fall.

I’m sure if the acting principal wants it, she’ll get it. SPED schools are very difficult to fill. Last year the RICA acting principal was officially offered the job and I would expect the same for Rock Terrace. Now whether she wants it is a different question!

Goshen ES now has an acting principal (to take the exiting principals place) Rajeev Gupta and as a parent, so far I like him

I think he is the principal intern, so he is running the school temporarily as part of that program. I don't think it means he has a lock on the position moving forward; he'll have to apply to become a principal with everyone else.

No definitely not a lock. He’s just the Acting principal for now

Really? I have heard rumors about that too but didn’t think she would

Good info. What other schools currently have principal interns? Those will likely be the ones to take a position, although not necessarily at the school they are interning at.

Blake HS has one.

Churchill also has a principal intern, but I don’t think that means the principal is leaving. It is just a new principal that will be available for hiring.

I have always thought interns/ acting principals had a really good shot at getting the school they were appointed acting for. Assuming they wanted the job. Is that typical for mcps?
