They could be happening, just not publicized yet..

First, most of the best players of 2019 were already committed well before the new rule kicked in. Second, those that weren't, are good enough to play DI, have been contacted by the programs that want them.

Next year there will be more kids recruited on Sept 1 as the top 2020 players may not have all received offers before the rule went into effect.

By 2021 it will be as predicted on Sept 1, a flurry of calls and e-mails. Few 2021s had been recruited as they were just graduating 8th when the rule went into effect.

How about the Ivies since they tended to recruit later? Have they been reaching out or pretty quiet?

No, Ivies didn't recruit later, not for lacrosse. Who told you that? The commitment is verbal but its still a commitment. When it comes to lacrosse, every school was playing the same game -recruiting freshman and sophomores consistently. A few rare 2020s had even made verbals before the rule took effect. Those are the kids where it will be interesting to see what happens when their Junior Sept 1 rolls around.

I know 2019s who have been committed since freshman year to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, Cornell, Brown and Columbia. A few others committed Sophomore year. Most coaches at top schools (not just Ivies) had their full contingent by the time the new rule came into effect this summer. I do know one 2019 who committed to Notre Dame, not an Ivy but a great school and top DI program, on Sept 1. That kid had offers before the rule from several other top schools but was waiting for ND.

So the new recruitment rules benefit the smart kids because their academic pictures are clearer, or the smaller kids in 8th grade, so they can try to catch up, at least a little bit. These new rules sound like the result of a conspiracy of the nerds!!!

BOTH.

The double re-class kid at Mater Dei who is turning 16 in the Fall of his freshman year is now screwed.

True. I was surprised at all that construction going on along Seven Locks, then I realized it was just all those MD parents shi&+*g bricks. LOL.

Wrong. The new rules don't benefit the smart kids. As stated, Ivies recruited freshman. They looked at SSAT scores, grades and trusted predictions for kids. If the kids couldn't "make the grade" they would get de-committed and yes, it happened. But the school aren't suddenly going to recruit a smart kid if he or she isn't a great lacrosse player.

You are right about smaller 8th graders, at least those who were just slow growers, as they have a little more time to catch up. But it doesn't help small kids generally, small kids still won't be recruited by DI schools.

This rule is good because it lets kids figured out who they are academically and who they are lacrosse-wise before picking a college. Too many kids were finding themselves at a college for lacrosse when they wouldn't have wanted to attend otherwise.

Say what you want. The new rules benefit Bethesda and McLean. Fucks over Loudoun and Gaithersburg.

What in the HE11 are you talking about? This has got to be the weirdest comment in the entire thread and that's saying something.

I hear the implosion at DC Express is getting worse.

At the 2021 level? Really hard to take the daddy politics out of the equation when you have a mix of cultures from BLC and Performance.

Also factor in other private school sports such as football and basketball for some kids and lacrosse in the fall is hard to consider a priority.

Two major fatal flaws from DC Express:

1. Failing to realize that several good players who would be attending different HS would likely leave the club

2. Being arrogant and greedy enough to basically charge $300 for a tryout.

They had decent numbers, but almost all of them were rec/lesser club kids who cannot play at a top level.

Sad.

2022 DC Express will be one of the best teams in the country--picked up top kids from NL, CB, Crabs and Madlax.

Another crazy Bethesda dad. The NL, CB, Crabs and Madlax 2022 teams weren't that great.

DCE 2022 might be better, but one of the best in the nation? No.
