Pretty quiet since the 9/1 "start date " commenced. Ty Xanders joked about a flood of recruiting calls... They could be happening, just not publicized yet..
First, most of the best players of 2019 were already committed well before the new rule kicked in. Second, those that weren't, are good enough to play DI, have been contacted by the programs that want them. Next year there will be more kids recruited on Sept 1 as the top 2020 players may not have all received offers before the rule went into effect. By 2021 it will be as predicted on Sept 1, a flurry of calls and e-mails. Few 2021s had been recruited as they were just graduating 8th when the rule went into effect.
How about the Ivies since they tended to recruit later? Have they been reaching out or pretty quiet?
No, Ivies didn't recruit later, not for lacrosse. Who told you that? The commitment is verbal but its still a commitment. When it comes to lacrosse, every school was playing the same game -recruiting freshman and sophomores consistently. A few rare 2020s had even made verbals before the rule took effect. Those are the kids where it will be interesting to see what happens when their Junior Sept 1 rolls around. I know 2019s who have been committed since freshman year to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, Cornell, Brown and Columbia. A few others committed Sophomore year. Most coaches at top schools (not just Ivies) had their full contingent by the time the new rule came into effect this summer. I do know one 2019 who committed to Notre Dame, not an Ivy but a great school and top DI program, on Sept 1. That kid had offers before the rule from several other top schools but was waiting for ND.
