So the new recruitment rules benefit the smart kids because their academic pictures are clearer, or the smaller kids in 8th grade, so they can try to catch up, at least a little bit. These new rules sound like the result of a conspiracy of the nerds!!!
Wrong. The new rules don't benefit the smart kids. As stated, Ivies recruited freshman. They looked at SSAT scores, grades and trusted predictions for kids. If the kids couldn't "make the grade" they would get de-committed and yes, it happened. But the school aren't suddenly going to recruit a smart kid if he or she isn't a great lacrosse player. You are right about smaller 8th graders, at least those who were just slow growers, as they have a little more time to catch up. But it doesn't help small kids generally, small kids still won't be recruited by DI schools. This rule is good because it lets kids figured out who they are academically and who they are lacrosse-wise before picking a college. Too many kids were finding themselves at a college for lacrosse when they wouldn't have wanted to attend otherwise.
Say what you want. The new rules benefit Bethesda and McLean. Fucks over Loudoun and Gaithersburg.
What in the HE11 are you talking about? This has got to be the weirdest comment in the entire thread and that's saying something.
