One of them is lying to me - the cleaners or the neighbor

You seem stupid. They have been cleaning your house for five years and you have never suspected any of them of smoking anything in or near your house which is probably because they weren't. So now you've lost your good workers but you still have your lyingassliar neighbors with the druggie kid. Happy?

OP here. I didn't believe they would be hotboxing before cleaning, although I don't rule anything out 100%. So the scenario where a young Mexican girl was smoking weed in her car with her friends is completely out of the question? Really?

OP, if your cleaner allegedly smoked in her car with the windows shit (hotboxing), then why are you worried about it “getting into your walls?”

Seriously? Well, you see, they don’t stay in the car.
They open doors in the garage and get out.

In OP’s defense, I think the reason she mentioned that her cleaners were Mexican is due to the fact that she was accused of racial profiling & that because of that - their race is an important component to this narrative.

What I would have done OP if my neighbor relayed this info to me would be to not say a word to my cleaners…but just keep an eye out for any unusual or weird behavior.

I would also keep an eye on my neighbor’s daughter as well.

I would not have brought this up at all to your cleaners > because once you say something to someone, it cannot ever be unspoken.

But now your cleaners may suspect your neighbors of possibly calling the Border Patrol/Immigration on them.
And they are rightfully afraid if they do so.

This.

Also, am I the only person who wouldn't care if my cleaners smoked in their car?

No. The OP sounds like a piece of work.

I don't know if I wouldn't have done the same thing if I were in OPs shoes. If you start allowing marijuana, thenit just escalates. They could start doing lines in the kitchen!!!

There are tons of other housecleaners. No reason to use ones that smoke pot if you don't want that smell in your house.

I mean, this is clearly a troll. Anyone who was hotboxing would smell of mj and OP would have noticed when they got home.

I agree with you that it was appropriate context for the first post, but there was no need to keep referring to them as the “Mexican cleaners” after that.

neighbor mom smelled pot or neghbor daughter realized her pot smell was spreading, and lied about cleaners to cover her tracks.

if it were me, I would have thanked neighbor, installed a camera, and simply kept an eye on things. then the next question is what to tell neighbor when you see their kid smoking pot.

Adult pot smoker in my 40s here. Most adults don’t hotbox because we realize its going to smell. This is not an activity that tends to continue after people move out of their parents house. If most adults smoke in the car it is with all windows down, nowhere near our place of employment.

Neighbors daughter was laying the groundwork to set the cleaners up for any/all smell in the future.

You and your neighbor mother both made a horrible decision to believe the daughter with a drug problem over hard working cleaners. The fact that you have to mention that they are Mexican, that you have to identify that you don't know whether they are legal or not. Both of those comments are racist justifications for why are tended towards believing your white neighbor over your cleaners. If your neighbor family was Mexican and your cleaners were white, I bet that you would have believed the cleaners and you wouldn't have the problem.

I’m beginning to think that you all are projecting.

I mentioned their Mexican and possibly illegal as this would be a good explanation why they immediately jumped to the thought that thy are not safe because neighbors could call cops in them. If they weren’t I would think they were guilty because people are ordinarily not afraid that someone will call cops on them as they have done nothing wrong.

Also, I told you we had a similar situation a few years ago when our neighbors alerted us that people renting our property were doing pot. They were white. I believed the neighbors and confronted the renters. Was I racist against white people too? Please, spare me from your victimhood.

WHITE people are are ordinarily not afraid that someone will call cops on them. People of color live with that fear every day.
And you are part of the reason why.

That’s an accusation.

Not in DCUMland. That's simply laying out the "facts" and demanding a response.

Putting all white people in the same bag is kind of racist. I hope you go to bed now, have a restful sleep, and wake up with a clear mind tomorrow. It’s been a long day.

LOL I don't believe it's possible to be racist against the race in power. I am white.

OP I think you handled it appropriately.
