I can tell we have a lot of former high level athletes posting here.

Attended the VLC tryouts previously (and will go back again this weekend) and was at Madlax last night. VLC is more organized, had more evaluators and those kids are constantly moving.
Surprised there weren't more kids trying out for Madlax. I think they are really getting hit by NL, DC Express, VLC and BW. |
It's bizarre. Most kids I know actually care about their teammates and have friends on the other teams and care about their success. They go to their HS games, takes pictures with each other after a game they play against each other and remain friends through college. |
My sons play(ed) D1 top 10 teams. So yes, high level athletes actually care about their friends. |
BW has tryouts? I guess invite only? |
Of all the clubs you mention, are there any that are associated with a particular private school. For example, I have heard that DC Express may be Bullis-focused. |
The closest thing BW has to tryouts is their camp in the summer. That's where he watches kids and then gives them an offer at the end of the week, usually poaching them from someone else. He used to be very successful with that method, but has had a lot less success recently. Most kids who play fro BW wanted to play for BW because on word of mouth or siblings. He invites kids to play at tournaments with his existing players which is why they always have a huge sideline. |
All the kids from The Heights play for NL. All of their kids are Montgomery County kids. Same with Express. They started with Montgomery County public kids which was a disaster. They have one great team, but the other teams aren't very good - mostly kids who just come over from Bethesda. The founders are affiliated with Bullis and they will get more Bullis kids in their program. |
Assume you are referring to 2021 DC Express? I saw them. They are good. Are there any openings on that team? |
| DC Express 2021 is one of the best teams in the country. They are working hard to grow that success into younger teams. They are a fairly new club to our area and partnering with BLC and Performance. Tons of kids trying out from independents, Catholics, and publics. Not aware of a ton of Bullis kids yet as that would only be for high school years. I can say there are a lot of kids from STA, Landon, Mater Dei, other Catholic schools, and publics. |
/s/ The club owners. All are welcome who can fork over $3000. |
| Their 2021 team is excellent. The rest of the teams are below average |
| The orange teams are financial padding for the owners. They are not developing them like the black teams. |
That is unfair and misleading. The coaches are all excellent and want to win. There is just not enough talent to support a B team. I do think DCE dilutes its brand with a B team. |
What brand? Under Armour and Nike are brands. DC Express, I don't think so. |
