You mean she might want to get new customers? I have never been to a Cracker Barrel and I’m sure there are plenty of other people like me. |
Getting rid of the "old white guy" is likely being perceived as a DEI initiative to be more inclusive which pisses off white guys. Many of their customer base would likely have preferred a guy wearing a sheet and a pointy hat.
On the other hand, maybe the food quality and service has eroded and prices increased. |
+1 Oh, yeah! Maybe start by getting rid of the clueless CEO who spouts corporate speak with a fake smile while she touts the bland grayscape of the "new" interiors and design of their stores and restaurants. |
They just hate that the CEO with new innovative ideas is not an old white guy, like in the old logo. |
That old white guy, Uncle Herschel," was a relative of one of the cofounders. Having him sit next to a barrel playing checkers is old time Tennessee. Why get rid of it? It's called nostalgia and very appealing to their custoners. What's wrong with traditions? When I travel to Santa Fe, I love the culture of their restaurants, sfood choices, stucco homes, turquoise jewelry, Catholic churches, etc. |
The woke was earlier, with corporate embracing of DEI, putting rainbow chairs at the entrance. For this rebrand, the only thing woke is the suspicion the CEO is embarrassed by current customer base. Plus changing the peg game to not call losers 'ignoramus'. |
I'm glad MAGA was able to destroy something because it made them emotional. Great job! |
Hoping people (MAGA and non MAGA) will give CB's Place or CB-Zone a chance. New name, new game! |
Can we be sure he was white? |
The company wanted a brand refresh. Also the Catholic Church, stucco houses, or local food isn’t the same as a company. I would say a better comparison is updating your wardrobe at 30 from what you wore in high school. I know it’s hard for Americans to understand but corporate branding really isn’t culture. |
They should have an offshoot for that and just call it Crackers. |
I've never eaten there. |
It was bad timing for a change like this.
I always thought the old logo was creepy, even as a white guy. But their customer demographic is mostly older and conservative. Liberals aren't going to start eating Cracker Barrel, just like they didn't all start drinking Bud Light--at least not enough to compensate for the loss of customers they've alienated. |
I just did a little research into Cracker Barrel. They only started in 1969. But the way some people are talking it's as if they've been around for a couple of centuries with some old guy on the logo.
Why would, or should their change of logo make a difference to anyone? The food will still the same. What's next? People complaining and boycotting McDonald's if Ronald McDonald becomes a person of color or an Hispanic? |
