Some of the Caribbean nations, the more developed countries in Subsaharan Africa. Maybe not American quality of life, but globally they tend to be forgotten about by global powers. I don’t know the visa or immigration process of these nations Im just tossing out ideas. |
The problem is that people are comparing Europe and the US as they are today. Not what they will be like in a year. That is why people want to move. |
What if there's no grass here. What if it's paved over like the Rose Garden? |
I’m in a position where I could legally move to another country and work. The problem is that, once we have serious problems, the doors will bang shut. There are just too many Americans, Putin has invested too much money in demonizing us, and we do stupid things that make ourselves more unpopular. So, I could escape and have the necessities of life, but I’d never be accepted or comfortable. Few people without family ties will be able to escape, and most who manage to escape will live sad, stunted lives. Because of what the end of America would do to democracies all around the world, even if Americans manage to get by in countries with free elections, there won’t be any such thing as our children truly integrating in those societies. Even if our children become citizens in these other countries, they’ll still be despised American outsiders. |
Pretty sure Venezuela is close with Russia. |
The UK has an ancestry visa where if you can prove your grandparent was born in the UK and you have a job in the UK waiting for you or a business plan, you can get a visa for 5 years to establish yourself. We have researched this visa extensively and plan on pursuing it. |
Europe today is far from rosy. |
We just talked last night about whether we should try to go somewhere - my DH is in a job that could maybe be transferable - but have no idea where we’d go or what’s involved. I’d have to give up my job and we’d have to uproot our kids, let alone all the visas etc. |
Italy, Spain, Ireland too |
Still not the point. Will it be better than the US in a year? Many guess yes. |
A wholesale move against women's rights. And yes, I realize Roe was overturned and that was a big step in that direction. That was a major tripwire. |
I will not leave until my personal safety is threatened. But I'm a nobody, so I doubt that will happen. And I want to join the resistance, so leaving would negate that. Everything I love is here. I do not want to leave. I want THEM to leave and go live in Russia. |
effing troll. you don't even live here |
Immigrants are locked up in tent cities in Guantanamo. Out of sight, and God knows what's happening to them. If that doesn't give you chills.... |
It certainly is. I got a UK passport through my grandmother. |
