How do you know this?

Yeah. I am a Magruder teacher have not heard this. I would not be surprised though. I think he is one of the longest serving principals in MCPS based on his salary.

I have felt that the last few years have felt like transition years. The admin needs a shake-up for several reasons, but staff also don’t want to be micromanaged by a new principal looking to make change just for appearances.

Will a new principal allow the SRO back into the school? I hear a bunch of other high schools are.

Isn’t that a central office decision?

No, it's a county executive decision.

They're called CEOs now, and they're back.

Are they the same thing? I thought they didn't go in the school but rather patrolled around the school.

"There are decisions we make along our personal journeys that involve forks in the road, bumps, and responsibilities. My journey has been part of a love of learning and making a difference in education through ensuring each child knows that he or she is capable of anything through hard work and passion. When I completed my Bachelor and Master’s degree, I was ready for the doctoral program but life put that decision on the side for a while. In the past two weeks, an opportunity of a lifetime has presented itself to me, to work on my doctoral degree. This decision has been filled with a list of pros and cons yet my passion for learning is still front and center. I have been accepted into a doctoral program and I could not be more excited. With this decision, I knew that this will support CCES, or students, families, and staff so I am setting my retirement aside for now. My journey will always have CCES in the forefront. I look forward to applying my new found knowledge for our children."

Seriously, what is that?

They can go into the school if there is a serious situation, but they aren't routinely walking the halls.

This is the MOU describing their duties:

The Potomac Elementary principal position was posted today.

I don't think anyone posted that Forest Oak is now open too. The principal is now a supervisor in Loudoun County, so I guess he didn't finish the year in MCPS.

Yes, someone mentioned him leaving a few pages back.

Called it.

I don’t think she understands how much work a doctorate is. Maybe it’s different for education, but for my Ph.D. there would have been no way to get through the program in any reasonable amount of time while working full time.

Principals in MCPS do it all the time through programs like the one at Hood. They do it in a cohort with other MCPS principals, I believe.
Anonymous
it seems like there aren’t as many principals leaving this year as last year and the year before.

Word is she says she’ll stay at least 3 more years.

She probably has to in order to ensure MCPS pays for her doctorate.

Then I’ll bet she stays longer. I don’t think you can complete a doctoral program in 3 years, even going in with a master’s — especially when you work full time.
