That isnt fascism. We have pride parades, pride month, a pride flag. If you can be proud of your sexuality, you can be proud of other parts of your identity. She is right, people want to make you erase your identity and be told who you are. Shes right to encourage people to fully embrace their identities.

She is an actual fascist.

Ive heard no cogent argument as to why she is a fascist.

I am not sure what more cogent argument you need, should she knock at your door and tell you in your face? Her party is the direct descendant of the post WWII Italian fascist party (FYI, in Italy recreating the fascist party and showing symbols of the fascist party is actually a crime. So after WWII many right wing people ended up in the Democrazia Cristiana party, the militant fascist fringe created a party called Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (last two words mean “tricolor flame” or the flame with the three colors green white and red of the Italian flag). In the 90s in Italy many changes happens for all parties (including the communist party). melonis party is the direct descendant of the Movimento Sociale party and it has the symbol of the flame with the color of the Italian flag that she refused to remove.

Maybe this is still not enough for you but the members of the party know very well who they are. Link below is from something that happened last week, not fifty years ago, in Milan at the funeral of a guy where participants, including Romano La Russa, who is from Meloni’s party and is member of the government of the Lombardia region snd brother or Ignazio La Russa, one of the most important members of the party, marched behind the casket repeatedly doing the fascist Roman salute .

I can add tons of similar examples of member of the party expressly honoring Mussolini, doing fascist salute, wearing black shirt (that was the fascist uniform) and so on.

What are specific fascist policies she’s looking to implement?

For example, Liz truss part wrote a manifesto on her vision of what uk policifal-economy should be and is followinf thru on it this week for better or worse.

Im not saying truss is right or wrong, but I know what she is trying to do in concrete terms.

What is meloni clearly trying to do? Ok she doesn’t like lgbtq and immigrants.

Is there legislation and/or security proposals to curtail this like truss has done with her pet issues (tax rates).

I keep hearing the term “facist” but what does this mean in policy terms?

“Ok she doesn’t like lgbtq and immigrants.”

Wow. Just wow.

“Ok she doesn’t like the disabled.”

“Ok she doesn’t like Jews.”

“Ok she doesn’t like black people.”

“Ok she doesn’t like Roma people.”

When is it ever ok for a country's leader to hold such views?

That’s a very anglo view

Except the entire argument is based on a strawman. No one wants to take away her Christianity, motherhood, or feminine identity. She is saying “be proud” of these things because things she doesn’t agree with - secularism, child-free lifestyle, shifting gender and sexual identities - are “wicked” and need to be destroyed. She’s adopted a First Strike doctrine to restrict personal choice and liberties that, at its heart, is based on a series of lies.

Unfortunately, I know people heavily involved in the ‘values’ that LGBTQ ‘inspires’. Hateful and nasty doesn’t even begin to describe it. There’s no room for tolerance of any kind because if you don’t keep up with the jargon du jour, you are bigoted, etc. This is not a tolerant group of people, sadly. It’s their way or the highway. I have always had a ‘you do you’ attitude, but I DO feel this movement does NOT. They want to be them and you have to go along with it all - their way or the highway. They think nothing of destroying lives and livelihoods over simple errors, especially if you are involved in education or entertainment. These aren’t values, this is a movement. What you are seeing in Italy is a backlash against that.

Ok so what’s the “backlash” going to involve? State clearly what you intend to do to LBGTQ people and families. Stop beating around the bush like a coward.

Ps - don’t interact with LBGTQ folks if you don’t like their lifestyle. That’s all reactionary conservatives need to do. Instead, y’all are determined to resurrect the worst dregs of fascist ideology from history as part of your “backlash.” Why can’t you just be chill?

If lfbtq people were more like Tammy baldwin or mayor Pete, that would go long way in smoothing out things in society.

A lot of lgbtq people also purposely go “over the top” with it. Either their voice or mannerisms or aesthetic or public behaviors.

No one complains about senator baldwin or mayor Pete on a personal level.

The only thing you can control is (1.) how you live your life (short of abridging others' rights) and (2.) what happens on your private property. You absolutely do not get a say in how people TALK, an AESTHETIC, or their PUBLIC BEHAVIOR.

Do you even hear yourself? You sound like an authoritarian lunatic. Take a seat and STFU.

I love how no one can provide any evidence to support the claims that she believes any of these things. The most you've got is that her party has roots in the era of fascism. Guess what, that was a thing in Europe so lots of them do. Its about as silly as calling the democratic party "one that historically supported segregation. Its true, but its misleading.

The left and right make too much noise about meloni because:

The left is mad she believes what she says

The right is thrilled because they think she can actually do stuff on the things she says

Neither political talking head left or right like staring at a Bloomberg terminal all day watching btp price, which is really the only number that matters.

My thing is:

Who cares what she says? She can’t act meaningfully on any of it.

Ignore her. She’s a hypocrite with a bastard and a slave to the bond market.

It would be good if she can implement a better support network for working women with kids in Italy. Notwithstanding the American commitment to the belief that Europe has great support systems, Italy is a uniquely awful place to be a working mom. I cant see why the left would want to block that, except to spite her.

Italian women don’t look at American “lean-in women” as “goals”

I can guaruntee you Italian working moms would rather have what dutch women get in NL vs American women in 🇺🇸

No I mean to be fair, thr left is right about meloni’s dogwhosfles.

She’d clearly rather not have brown people and Jewish people in Italy.

And if those groups are in Italy that they are quiet, rich, and don’t really “make themselves heard”

She def doesn’t want to see pride parades in the public open.

Wants abortion restrictions

…..

My point is all of those things are things meloni can say in public daily but are not consequential compared to Italian bond yields, which will dictate the sócio-political-economic-cultural landscape way more

Dunno what I said is that out of bounds in the vast majority of the world.

You are hating on people because of their voices and mannerisms, which bother you. WTF? Who cares? Really? If someone's personality bothers you enough to make you think you have the right to tell them to change or worse (like conservatives) take their human rights away, there is something wrong with YOU. The best characteristic one could muster for someone like that is to call them rigid. Bigot also comes to mind.

Just because you don't like people you deem "over the top" doesn't mean many others don't love and appreciate them for exactly who they are.

I don’t want to take their rights away.

I supported right to marriage way before Obama.

It feels there is no middle ground anymore.

Hilarious. As I stated, I have a ‘you do you’ attitude. I really don’t CARE what people do with their lives. I have a problem when someone tries to destroy someone else because they have a different set of values. This means, in my mind, if Christians, conservative Jews, etc. don’t want to adopt the LGBTQ lifestyle, or don’t feel they want to use the pronouns, they should not be forced to do so. On the other hand, if someone chooses not to verify the LGBTQ lifestyle in exactly the manner that LGBTQ want them to, it become all out war. Why can’t they just be chill and let people think individually?

If I called you a pig to your face every time I spoke to you then you would just smile and nod, right? You do you and all.

But of course you wouldn’t put up with being disrespected like that in real life.

I do all the time. And I smile and nod. Why engage with idiocy?

Define all the time. You have someone in your life who harasses you daily and you just smile without complaint? And is it someone in a position of authority over you?

As a conservative in the DC area, it’s not unusual to be harassed. I don’t hide that I’m a conservative. Given the amount of leftists in this area, and the amount of intolerance, yes, it can be on a daily basis. My spouse is a leftist. I don’t’ know if that constitutes power over me, but suffice it to say he thinks less of me than the other way around, because I don’t think politics fully defines someone.

Please give examples of how you are "harassed" for being a conservative.
