Why isn’t giorgia meloni being lauded as a #girlboss ?

Anonymous
The center left opposition in Italy, PD, just made an Italian-American-Swiss bisexual millennial the party leader

It’s as if they don’t even want to try to challenge meloni

She about to become pm of a g7 country.

Nothing was ever really handed to her. She “leans in”

Interesting that she isn’t being championed as a “girl boss” just because she has different political views

Same reason why I don’t go around lauding Lauren Boebert as a feminist.

I mean, so were Hitler and Mussolini.

Well yes. That was exactly the point.

What she said wasn't wrong though. France and other Europeans actively degrade and destabilize countries in Africa. Suggesting that perhaps the west shouldn't be destabilizing countries and causing mass migration but instead should be trading/doing business with them is a good point. It shouldn't be lost because you don't like her politics.

Her party's program states it is against marriage equality, gay parents adopting children, and surrogate motherhood.

You are not discussing this in good faith.

So her goal will be to reject any goods, food or energy form any countries that are poorer then Italy?

Why is surrogate motherhood more important than child labor in the mines of Niger? As she points out France gets a good portion of it's uranium from Niger so while the Eiffel Tower is lit daily using Niger's material, most people in Niger don't have electricity at all.

You are not having a serious discussion.

No, her point was to create trade and more equitable deals with Africa so that people are not so desperate that they need to leave in the first place. She pointed to the energy deal that Libya's Gaddafi made with Italy before he was taken out by France . Or how Gaddafi was trying to implement a better centralized banking system across Africa but France put a stop to that as well.

You do realize that it is possible to enter deals with African nations that are fair, right? You don't have to reject all goods but maybe not strip them of resources that their own people need and instead help them use those resources to improve their lives. But that would require Europeans to see Africans as human which we know is a problem for some.

Interesting week for meloni — very lindy.

1. Bans chat gpt

2. Protect food supply from fake meat

3. Supports new bill to ban English in gov and private sector communication

4. Debating bill to ban surrogacy and gay parents adopting

Then there’s the fact that she’s a pretty awful human having nothing to do with her political views— she doxxed a rape victim, for example.

And then finally, Europe has more impressive female leaders. No one needs to scrape the bottom of the barrel like this to find people to admire there.

G7 leaders?

Yes? PM of the UK is a woman and Germany was led by a woman for fifteen years. The EU is considered part of the G7 and is also led by a woman. All of these women are much more impressive than the not-yet-elected fascist who might run Italy. What is it about her you think people should be impressed by, compared to the women who have legitimate accomplishments and don’t release video of women being raped?

Yeah Ursula von der leyen seems like she needs more press.

Polished, High powered job and has 7 kids.

Impressive to manage to do both.

Not sure why she isn’t being lauded more

And full-time household staff incl. nannies.

Is she Mussolini yet, or was that all just overblown woke clickbait?

It’s interesting to compare her - a real Italian working class woman — with Casey desantis — an Italian American.

Weird comparison. Meloni is the first female prime Minister of a major European nation. She isn't a political wife.

Did it ever occur to you that #girlboss is rather demeaning for someone who is prime minister of Italy?

Dumb question. Next.

Can you imagine if Trump saluted Meloni like Biden did? It would be "OMG! This fascist is flashing fascist gang signs at a fellow fascist! It's all fascism!"
