Why isn’t giorgia meloni being lauded as a #girlboss ?

She about to become pm of a g7 country.

Nothing was ever really handed to her. She “leans in”

Interesting that she isn’t being championed as a “girl boss” just because she has different political views

Because she's a feckin Fascist. Like, openly Fascist. Jesus.

That’s for Italy to decide if they want to follow that path or not as long as votes aren’t tampered with during elections.

Is she running a sham election or taking over the country with an army?

I dont support her politics, but i also dont support not letting her air her views in public discourse

Except of course the original question wasn’t “do you think we should let fascists run for election, given that they don’t believe in following democratic norms” — which might be an interesting question— but “why aren’t people calling her role model for women” — which isn’t.

All women have to hold the same views?

Maybe she thinks her views are best for women?

Then there’s the fact that she’s a pretty awful human having nothing to do with her political views— she doxxed a rape victim, for example.

And then finally, Europe has more impressive female leaders. No one needs to scrape the bottom of the barrel like this to find people to admire there.

G7 leaders?

Yes? PM of the UK is a woman and Germany was led by a woman for fifteen years. The EU is considered part of the G7 and is also led by a woman. All of these women are much more impressive than the not-yet-elected fascist who might run Italy. What is it about her you think people should be impressed by, compared to the women who have legitimate accomplishments and don’t release video of women being raped?

You want to point to Merkel as an example of an “impressive” female leader?

If bending over for the Russians is a good thing, then I guess she was impressive?

Ha, that’s hilarious. She’s anti-abortion so I think not.

Because people that use that term don’t like her? I mean wtf is this question?

I don’t use that term anyway, it’s stupid. But I wouldn’t use any affectionate or laudatory terms to refer to someone with her politics.

You know we don’t have to like people we disagree with right? Like I absolutely do not like people who like fascism.

Yes. So do most other people.

Can’t help noticing Putin waited for her departure to launch his invasion, so I imagine Putin may have felt the same…

Did you not see everyone simping for sanna Marin and the Estonian pm kaja kallas and the Moldovan leader?

No. And no one uses the term "girl boss" unless they are shilling an MLM.

Guess the troll farms are kicking back into action now.

At least they didn't use "mompreneur"

In talking about her an Italian said that the only good thing about her is that she is an unknown entity and hasn't yet disappointed the Italians.
Migration is driving the right wing political agenda in Europe and will become even worse as climate migrants continue to push into European countries. The Italians fell for fascism before -- let them try again.

Merkel grew up in Liepzig and Putin was stationed at the Stasi HQ there when he was a low-ranking KGB officer. I suspect there is some animosity between Merkel and Putin.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I think Merkel scared Putin. Unlike the fascist in Italy we’re discussing.

I have never heard the term girl boss before this thread. People probably aren't saying that because it's really odd.

There are hundreds of millions of anti-choice women world wide. It is not an uncommon stance

Yeah Ursula von der leyen seems like she needs more press.

Polished, High powered job and has 7 kids.

Impressive to manage to do both.

Not sure why she isn’t being lauded more
