I avoid them because the ones I like are very high in sodium. I think that how useful they are for you depends upon what you’d eat instead. ice Cream and Lean Cuisine aren’t a great regular diet — but might be a good transition if it helps you with portions or helps you avoid snacking or something else that’s a goal for you. |
Np here. I have been working on weight loss/healthier lifestyle for about a year, just found this thread. I remember eating a lot of lean cuisine meals when I was in my twenties and they are good! I would even add extra steamed veggies to them sometimes. Anyways, I haven’t had one in a long time, but what I do eat often is those bags of frozen veggies that you steam in the microwave. They even have one that’s flavored with Mrs Dash seasoning so it’s no salt. I love them and they are under 200 calories. I do sprinkle some garlic salt and sriracha on them otherwise they are bland lol. |

It was a rough few weeks, so I haven’t updated. I followed my bout of bronchitis with my first ever case of Covid, followed by another round of bronchitis. My lungs are shot and my exercise has been mostly nothing since before the last week of October at this point. I feel so cruddy. That said, since my last check in, I’ve lost 2 more lbs, for a total of 47. I was not really trying to lose anything during the last almost 4 weeks as I figured it would just be weight from being ill, but now that I’ve “recovered” I’m back at the diet again and most of that 2 lbs has come off in the last week. I’m just happy to be on the mend, but I can see it’s going to take a while to get back to running at all, let alone the distance I had built up to, which is discouraging! |
Everybody seems sick right now. My daughter has the worst cough! We are wearing masks around the house to try not to get it. Hope you are feeling better and congrats for hanging in there and even making further weight progress. You are so close to 50 pounds lost, go you! I find winter a hard time for exercise. And in some ways a hard time to lose weight, too! Like my body is telling me to eat soup and bread to stay warm ha. I am super impressed that you fought through both Covid and bronchitis and are getting back to exercise. Please be gentle on yourself and don’t over stress your body! But go, you! I haven’t reported in here for a while, either. Work has been bad and stressful. At one point I thought I was getting fired, and if it doesn’t happen I might quit. So much stress! That has been working out for me on the weight loss as I am now down to 94 pounds lost and getting sooo close to my goal of 101! I’m currently 162 lbs at a height somewhere between 5 ft 6 or 5 ft 7. I look great! Slimmest I have been since I met my husband in my 30s. But work is crap so I’m not really enjoying it. Maybe I’ll try to get out in the sunshine a bit today to improve my outlook! |
Your goal is 101 pounds lost? Not to weigh 101 correct? Good job, 162 sounds like a great weight for you, looking good. |
Right, I started at 256. My goal is 155. I might go a bit lower than 155?once I get there since it’s TA right on the edge of a normal/overweight bmi, but nowhere near 101 ha. |

Can’t catch a health break lately. Followed up the bronchitis with a bladder infection this week which has just completely knocked me down again. Haven’t gained or lost anything this week, which with family visiting, it being thanksgiving, and feeling like utter crud, is not too bad overall. Maybe next week I’ll get out of this health slump unless something else ants to come at me. I’ve never had a bladder infection in my life. |
Op, I’m sorry, that sounds awful and trying. Why can’t we catch a break now and then? I hope your next few weeks are a lot easier!
Congrats on not gaining! I would consider that a win! |
Checking in as well - I definitely ate more than normal on thanksgiving, and the day after. But I got in a workout both days and enjoyed the endorphin rush! Trying to get back on track today and convince my stomach it doesn’t need more leftovers 😂 |
Mid 40s 5’6” woman checking in. I lost a pound this week. Down 48 total now. Getting really close to my next goal of 50lbs. I can’t tell if it’s how ill I’ve been lately or just that I’ve got a lot less to lose now, but every pound is harder to budge at this point! November saw a weight loss of 3lbs total. I’m thinking I’ll be done when I get to 50 lbs. I’ll weigh 129, which isn’t a weight I’ve ever seen as an adult (I’ve mostly weighed about 145 with the exception of pregnancy, my wedding when I stress lost a ton of weight, this last weight gain and a few other times I’ve gained some weight but more like 10lbs those times not the 34 I gained during the pandemic.)
I had to buy new clothes again. Which is fun, but I’m certain I’ve spent more on clothes in the last year than I have in the last 10 years! Even if I did lose more weight I’m not sure I’d go down another size in bottoms because I can’t see how a smaller size would ever fit over my hips. Next I need new bras as I’ve lost 2 cup sizes. |
Congrats on the new wardrobe PP! That is exciting. I have also been buying new clothes in size small (!) which is not a size I’ve ever been as an adult. I think I must have 6 different bra sizes stocked in my attic as a result of size changes through breastfeeding, pregnancy, weight gain and weight loss.
Commiserating with you on “every pound is so hard to budge” towards the end of your goal. I’ve been plateaued at 128 for 6-8 weeks now, but if the scale isn’t going up during all the holiday activities then I’m calling it a win. My goal is “to see visible abs” and I’m not sure what weight that is but I’m thinking it’s around 125. Great job losing in November! What an inspiration, truly. |
Great job you guys! I'm enjoying hearing about the change in clothing sizes. I bet that feels great! I'm going to check in over here, also -- 54 year old woman who has lost about 95 pounds so far. I've been going up and down with the same two pounds over the last two weeks. My work is still awful but not as bad as it was a few weeks ago so I started eating more normally again. The smaller pants that I brought down from my closet a month ago, size 14s, seem way too big now, so I'm going to have to change them out again. I can still wear a large on top but probably will fit into a medium soon.
I'm still overweight but am less than 10 pounds from being in a normal range, which I haven't been since ... I before I got married? Since I met my husband? I wish I had records somewhere. Anyway, congrats to the other two posters in here who are making huge health strides and fitting into smalls. That's pretty cool and I applaud you! |
I’m not weighing myself — yet, but my jeans are loose and I can see collarbones. I want to use these next few weeks for trying out new vitamins and practicing better sleep habits — which I think will positively impact my efforts to lose weight, feel more energetic, and reduce stress.
This month’s fun thing: I don’t like coffee or alcohol. I’ve never smoked. I had the thought that I might eat less or might eat with more awareness if I had an oral habit — like many adults seem to have. So: I discovered hot cocoa. A heaping spoon of cocoa powder, a tablespoon or less of sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and hot water. I can add cream or milk or flavorings, but mostly I don’t. Since I started doing this, my snacking has dropped way down. I feel satisfied. And anytime I want to, I can have something restorative that tastes like a treat. Very yay. I’m thinking of trying Kirkland Organic vitamins. I also take magnesium, C, and D, and an occasional multi-vitamin. If anyone has recommendations, let me know! I’ll also do a DCUM search for options. I’ve always taken multi-vitamins by Whole Foods or whatever I picked up at GNC. I’d like to try some options though, to see if changes impact the way I feel and the way I eat. |
Reviving this thread.
Mid 40s 5’6 woman here checking in again. After my last post in early December I hit a plateau. I’ll consider it an enormous win that I didn’t gain anything over all the holiday events and birthdays that happen in our family in the month of December. However, my weight did not budge. It was exactly the same every day for over a month. Until today, yay. I’m down a pound finally, for 49 lost, 130 lbs this morning. One more to go to get to my 50 lb goal. I’m going to work hard this week and see if I can’t get that last pound to budge by the end of next week. Not that I haven’t been working hard! We visited family for 8 days over the holidays and I made time every day while there to still work out. |
I’m the PP who always has sick kids and is always exhausted. Lol. Both of those things have been true lately along with birthdays, holidays etc. but I didn’t gain any weight. So that’s something. For a week or so I have been doing well again. I have to eat no chips or sweets at all or I eat way too much. Trying hard not to munch because I’m tired/stressed and replace with better coping mechanisms. But it’s hard!! |
