I have no idea if my kids will play at a collegiate level right now. Maybe, maybe not. But either way I don’t have a problem with an athlete admissions track. It’s actually a great way to give access to diverse candidates. And in my experience student athletes were hardworking students who used their education well. |
and when the data shows that asian admits score higher than the whites, exactly nothing will happen. |
elite college athletics is dominated by whites, as you well know, you sock puppet. |
Newsflash: I never said I have a problem with AA. I have a problem with the tireless defense of anti Asian bias and discrimination. |
I went to a big 10. Ask Jeff if I’m a sock puppet. |
BINGO. This PP has a one-point agenda across forum- Asian bashing. |
you mean a school like Purdue (2.8% black)? or maybe Michigan (~5% black)? You're being petty about AA based on those numbers? Do these numbers have to be sub 1% for it not to harm your kids? |
Actually, it's the opposite. Asians are not a monolith in thought or ideology. The Asian Americans protesting in solidarity with diverse crowds at the Supreme Court are wrong? Many traveled hours to get to Washington DC. Some posters here claim that Asians are "lying" to pollsters or being cowardly in saying the opposite of what they truly believe, or that the poll is showing 69% AA support is "fake." The Asian Americans who protested against SFFA were courageous and front and center in support of AA. This isn't Asian bashing. It's lifting up Asian Americans who know the truth about SFFA's agenda. |
PP can answer for herself but my two cents say they didn't find it very motivating that hard work has a ceiling and people with more or less melanin are given bonus points in life. This can discourage and depress any person. |
I guess exactly how blacks feel. I think one day people will also understand the limitations of being an Asian applicant but it's going to take some time. |
While you lift them up, I would also like to center the lived experience of Asians who are getting F'd by this policy. |
Its also a great way to limit Asians students as not many middle class Asian parents can spend enough money or effort on athletics. In many ways, immigrant Asian parents just don't know or understand the admission game. |
What about Asians who are getting F'd by other admissions policies? I think you only like to center this particular policy because it has the added effect of f'ing other people of color (and only people of color). |

| What i hate most about current system is giving teen false hope that hard work is the key. They spend some of their best years chasing something that's out of their reach because rules are different for them. |
