| I ( 27) and my husband ( 28) have been together for 5 years - married for 1 year. We have good jobs, own a condo, no debt, etc., but we are not ready for kids. I would like to wait until 30 but everyone we know keeps pushing us to have kids right away. Is it really insane of us to want to wait until 30 for kids? |
| How many do you want? |
|
30 is a good age. Your kids will be out of the house by early 50s, which is a great time.
We had kids in late 30s/early 40s and won’t be empty nesters until 60. Pretty late, imho. Regret not having them earlier |
| Who has kids before 30 these days? |
|
It’s fine. Get tested now though. My fertility was shot by 32 or at least don’t waste a lot of time trying if it’s not working
After 3-4 months. |
| You are fine. Have them at 30. |
Maybe 2. No more than 3. 30 isn’t hard set, but we are just not ready. I would like to wait at least 2 more years before trying. |
If you’re even lucky. I know serval couples with adult children living at home. |
Same but we tried and couldn’t. |
| Depends on why you want to wait. If the reason is something stupid, like "want to enjoy not having kids", then you should just go ahead and have kids as soon as possible. |
It's your life. Just wait -- who cares what other say. 30 is a pretty normal age to start a family around here. |
That’s their choice. You can kick them out. |

Two kids by 30.
We didn’t want to have them later. Our nest is now empty. Good luck. |
Lower middle class folks |
| I waited until I was 35 and consider myself sane. |
