Nats World Series ticket costs?

Actually the email that went out about this was pretty misleading. Here is the text:

Want access to World Series tickets? Get your tickets to the NLCS presented by GEICO at Nationals Park and you'll be automatically included in an exclusive World Series presented by YouTube TV ticket presale. It's that easy.

Buy NLCS Tickets

World Series presale will be limited to 2 tickets per game per customer, regardless of the number of National League Championship Series tickets a customer purchases. To qualify for the World Series presale, customers must purchase at least one (1) ticket via Nationals.com for at least one (1) 2019 National League Championship home game at Nationals Park. Other restrictions apply. See nationals.com/postseason for details.

A pre-sale doesn’t guarantee tickets for everyone, nor does the advertisement say that it does.

I bought tickets for NLCS because I wanted to go - I got lulled in with how easy it was to get tickets to the playoffs and this email above that I thought I would be able to get at least 2 tickets to 1 game. The way the system was run has really left a bitter taste in my mouth. And yes, I realize it doesn't guarantee it and that isn't why I bought NLCS tickets but argh!!! It takes some of the joy out of it for me.

Except that it’s not really a presale. For previous presales (NLDS, NLCS), it meant you got access before public sale. For the World Series, there is no public sale.

I’m totally cool with season ticket holders getting first dibs, but it seems like they got ALL the tickets. Heard a colleague bragging how he was able to get extra tickets during the presale earlier in the week (in addition to his regular seats). It’s a little disheartening to see so many available for resale. Like someone else said, I sure hope the Yankees don’t make it to the WS. Anyone remember what happened in Cleveland in 2016?

While your colleague may have been able to buy extra tickets I can assure you that’s not what happened with us so likely not typical. We are season ticket holders and bought our allotment. Called to see if we could buy more and they said -
Sure, if you sign up for more season ticket years.

We are season ticket holders for 4 seats and the Nats allowed us to buy our regular 4 plus 4 more, to every game.

Uh ... you got screwed. Season ticket holders got a strip + the opportunity to buy extra tickets.

Same. And the additional seats are comparable locations to our season tickets. We’re paying an average of about $200/seat. We have a share in a group for the tickets and it worked out well that everyone in our group got the number they wanted. DH and I are only doing game 5 bc the others conflict with our kids’ homecoming activities.

It is like this in every sport and in every playoff. All these people who aren't plan holders thinking they can just waltz in and snag WS tix are nuts.

Either pay the secondary prices or invest in seats like the thousands who ended up with tickets did, particularly the ones who have been plan holders since 2005.

Or make friends with season ticket holders! There’s no way we could go to enough games per year to make a plan worthwhile but my next door neighbors do and we bought a couple tickets off then.

Most mlb teams (but not sure about Nats) have some kind of arrangement with stubhub where they earn some $$ off the tickets sold there. So it’s really to their benefit to let the season ticket holders buy more than they need and sell the extras.

Eh let people be disappointed. Rather than "waltzing in" as you imply, lot of fans have supported this team for years, are really excited (!!) and wanted to be there to support the team in person. We have a half-season plan and are going, but this is only the second year we've done it (kids are off to college so we have the benefit of time now). Whereas I have co-workers who were season ticket holders for several years before having kids, and they were shut out. We got extra tickets for my parents too, whereas my dad's old buddies that he attended Senators games with growing up had no such luck. Timing is everything sometimes.

DH is from the NY area and as he put it, "everyone there knows the World Series is for season ticket holders and the celebrities." This was the first time the Nats have made it this far, and playoff tickets have always been relatively easy to procure. I'm pretty sure most NLCS ticket holders knew nothing was guaranteed, but expected more than a 1% chance of getting a ticket. I don't know of anyone who was able to buy during the (inappropriately named) NLCS presale. It was a miscalculation by the team management and if we are so fortunate as to reach the world series again, I'm sure there will be changes to the distribution process.
