The Nats didn’t misrepresent anything, people just didn’t read. Anyone who knows anything about sports would know that unless you have season tickets, there are no guarantees you’ll be able to buy tickets directly from the team.
Actually the email that went out about this was pretty misleading. Here is the text:
Want access to World Series tickets? Get your tickets to the NLCS presented by GEICO at Nationals Park and you'll be automatically included in an exclusive World Series presented by YouTube TV ticket presale. It's that easy. Buy NLCS Tickets World Series presale will be limited to 2 tickets per game per customer, regardless of the number of National League Championship Series tickets a customer purchases. To qualify for the World Series presale, customers must purchase at least one (1) ticket via Nationals.com for at least one (1) 2019 National League Championship home game at Nationals Park. Other restrictions apply. See nationals.com/postseason for details.

A pre-sale doesn’t guarantee tickets for everyone, nor does the advertisement say that it does.
Except that it’s not really a presale. For previous presales (NLDS, NLCS), it meant you got access before public sale. For the World Series, there is no public sale. I’m totally cool with season ticket holders getting first dibs, but it seems like they got ALL the tickets. Heard a colleague bragging how he was able to get extra tickets during the presale earlier in the week (in addition to his regular seats). It’s a little disheartening to see so many available for resale. Like someone else said, I sure hope the Yankees don’t make it to the WS. Anyone remember what happened in Cleveland in 2016?
