I'm 43, straight parents, learned about tampons from the box. Somehow survived without the menstrual diarrhea talk. Figured out the pool thing too.

I grew up in Manhattan, so not only was I not the only kid around with gay parents, but we were nowhere near the weirdest family, by a long shot. Every once in a while there'd be an ignorant comment or question.

My morning routine? Um, my alarm would go off, I'd dance around my room to the radio until my dad poked his head in and told me to get dressed, I got dressed, ate breakfast, and left for school. Sometimes I danced around for too long and had to eat breakfast on the way to school. No siblings.

matzoh ball soup.

Are you Jewish? Not that you have to be Jewish to eat Matzo Ball soup but you DID say you grew up in NYC. If so, did your dads raise you in the Jewish faith? Synagogue, Bat Mitzvah, etc.? Just curious.

My dads are not Jewish. I married a Jewish guy though, and converted while we were engaged.

Was that to please your fathers? Like, would they have let you marry a conservative gentile?

My Korean great-grandma is still alive, yes.
Our relationship is great. We've had a few bumps in the road, but love each other enough to smooth them out.
They are super involved grandfathers and we talk once or twice a week. Either we go to NY or they come here once a month. They are trying to talk us into moving there. When I first got married my husband would sometimes come home from work and tell me one of my dads called him and he's not sure what they wanted. So I'd call them and try to figure it out. Yeah, they were just calling to chat.
