Do you ever regret not marrying for the "lifestyle"?

Pick a guy who has great earning potential (> 500k) and who you could also love.

Yes, the hot nice guys with potential always seem to be born with a girlfriend. So annoying.

Because smart girls lock them down early.

I don’t know how “smart” they are if they base their whole lives and future on some young guy instead of working on their own potential.

It’s smart to have a smart partner locked down early in life. They have a rich, loving and resourceful partner to build their future with while their dumb friends party away their looks and wind up alone.

Hey, at least their friends have interesting life experiences and stories to tell instead of being locked in a boring relationship with the same guy for the rest of their lives. I thought that we as women had gotten past this 1950s mentality of our whole lives and self worth being based on marriage.

Earning 1500 euros a month in a small walkable town in Italy (like Verona) is “nicer” than being lmc/working poor in the USA.

Yes, because Europe will gladly open up their borders for these people.

Yes, with their declining birthrates, they will be happy to open their borders to white, Christian educated Americans, especially those who have ancestral roots on those countries.

And don’t speak the language. You know, just like how Americans welcome educated Christians to our country who don’t speak English or speak English with a non-British accent?

Language can be acquired, common bloodlines can’t.

Gen z and the generation after that are more 1950s deep down than gen z / millenials.

Americans wouldn’t care if 30 million French people moved here tomorrow (French people speak horrible English).

The phrase I've repeated to myself for years is "that's for other people." Like when a hairdresser told me I could get the baby hairs that make my hairline weird, lasered away like the Kardashians did. Well, that's something rich people do. That's for other people. I'll make peace with my baby hairs. I'll make peace with never having been to Hawaii or Europe or a thousand other places. Those things are for other people.

Granted, I have not read through the entire thread, but this is the healthiest thing I have seen here. OP should see a therapist to help her with her expectations. Frankly, I feel all Americans can do with a bit of downsizing. The lifestyles we have are unsustainable and they are killing the planet. A child born in the United States will consume 13 times the resources over the course of his/her lifetime than a child born Brazil. I get scolded by my daughter for my "conservative" values, yet I drive a twelve year old Volvo and will do so until either it or I die. She bought herself a gas guzzling SUV. I guess she gets that materialist streak from my ex.

Yes I’m sure a bunch of adult Americans will learn Polish when most Americans don’t seek out additional language education.

No need to go to Poland.
Portugal and Croatia English penetration is super high and better countries

And neither are looking for average Americans to become citizens. If you’re doing badly in the U.S you’re not going to be competitive for visas in the EU. Keep dreaming about your “desirability” as an immigrant.

You haven’t seen how easy it is to go to Portugal on a remote visa - 30k/year remote job is enough

Which doesn’t confer citizenship. So enjoy having no say in your elected leadership, and paying higher taxes because you will owe in both the U.S and Portugal.

Now you *can* get an expedited citizenship “golden visa” by investing about $300k, but since the people you’re talking about don’t *have* that $300k…

Why would you owe both in the US and Portugal? The foreign earned income exclusion is $80K.

Those aren’t mutually exclusive.

Because smart girls lock them down early.

Until a younger “smart” girl locks him down again in his 40’s and the original smart girl has no life or career without him.
