One of them is lying to me - the cleaners or the neighbor

The reality is, the cleaners are never coming back. Either they were smoking in the car and were caught or neighbors are lying. They can never trust the neighbors won't lie again if they are innocent. They are gone.

If nothing else, hopefully OP has learned to call people who speak Spanish Hispanic.

Presuming someone is guilty without evidence simply bc of their racial and ethnic background is racism. Assuming guilt based on class is classism. Valuing the words of certain races/classes over others is also racism & sexism. You are guilty of all of these.

The fact that you were using someone’s ethnicity ethnicity to describe them, is the problem. Do you describe your white friends that way? My white friend, Jane, my American friend Libby…. It’s just so weird why you’re so hung up on their ethnicity and your neighbors class.
