Correct, obeitions are still legal in her state. The sensationalist article is a hypothetical, what if it wasn’t thing. |
A 10 yo at stage 1 of 5 is impregnating 10 yo people who can have children? |
|
This horrifying thought just struck me. Those of us who have kids know how long pregnancy can feel but do you remember how long 9-10 months felt when you were 10? A whole school year felt like ages and ages. Christmas 9 months away might as well be forever. It’s like 10% of her entire memorable life. It would be so long and tortuous…and then the pain of labor and birth. My God.
I’m so thankful that little girl had options. I don’t know how Ohio lawmakers are sleeping tonight. |
| Didn’t homeboy Kavanaugh say that go across state lines for a abortion is just fine? |
Not legal for her because she was beyond 6 weeks. Not surprised this is too hard for you to figure out, your Republican overlords do prefer pandering to the stupid. |
I can assure you she never wanted to be the poster child for rape and abortion. |
|
Do we know her identity? Not that I am aware of. So she is not really a “poster child”
The details of the story, not her identity, are enough to make the point that these laws are insane A pregnant 10 year old is an abuse victim. A 10 year old’s body is generally not developed enough to carry a full term pregnancy, to say nothing of the psychological trauma that being forced to carry the pregnancy caused by abuse will cause her for life. These are the stories that absolutely need to be told so people understand the horrors these draconian laws are causing for children, women and families |
It IS legal and ended up being done. https://g1.globo.com/sc/santa-catarina/noticia/2022/06/21/aborto-nao-deixa-de-ser-legal-apos-20-semanas-de-gravidez-entenda-o-que-diz-a-lei.ghtml That being said, the article is not sensationalist because the pro-life judge decided to do what she wanted, and they temporarily kept the girl in a orphanage/shelter(same word in Portuguese) to stop her from seeking the LEGAL abortion. It’s disgusting. |

Here’s why conservative Christians don’t believe abortions for rape or incest should be allowed: “I am a firm believer that trauma leads to trauma. [A woman] ending the life of a child won’t make their pain go away.”
This was said by Kailey Cornett, from TN who is happy that TN will ban all abortions in Aug, as reported in the NYT 7/3 in an article about anti-choice young women. |
Shame that people are so excited about their theories but don't seem to want to consider actual research evidence about outcomes -- including how they feel about abortions later, or about carrying to term when you are a preteen. |
6 weeks and 3 days. They knew she was pregnant before then, but someone waited 3 days to prove a point. That’s the real monster |
I doubt this. |
There's already 400,000 kids that are wards of the state or in foster care. We're going to increase the supply by double that - but the rates of adoption will remain at 40-50,000. We do not need to increase the supply of infants. There are already far too many not being adopted. |
+1 There was another nurse who worked in PICU (I think; perhaps it was upthread) who said that an 11 year old gave birth at the hospital, then had to be rushed back to the hospital after she’d gone home for massive hemorrhaging. She survived but had to have a hysterectomy. |
People, the legal abortion is the Brazilian one. You’re talking about two stories at the same time. |
