Yes. Read the first paragraph.

On Monday three days after the Supreme Court issued its groundbreaking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist, took a call from a colleague, a child abuse doctor in Ohio.

The child was raped at age 10, and was 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant on Monday, June 26th.

Already that was too late to end the pregnancy in the state of Ohio. A pregnancy in a TEN YEAR OLD GIRL.

What the absolute hell?

Assuming she is pregnant.

Seems odd her lawyer or doctor would go to the local press about this and hypotheticals on future state law instead of discussing how they can imprison the abusive caretakers.

Why is it odd? I'm sure the doctors in Indiana aren't particularly happy about having a massive influx of desperate patients traveling to their practices. Especially 10 year old children who were victims of abuse and should be able to obtain sensitive, compassionate health care close to home.

One correction: The child was raped at either 9 or 10 years old, depending on the birthday. Which means about 3rd to 4th grade.

I hate having to go to an even lower age when reporting the rape of the child, but odds are it was 9. 9 months is the good part of a year.

Whoops. She's only 6 weeks in. My apologies!

I help take care of preteen pregnancies. We often don't see them until delivery -- they hide it. I'm used to calculating back. It was reflex.

But al least she made it to 10.

Just a baby herself. So much for her innocent life.

Unfortunately it's not a unique story. Back in 2000 - 11 year old Ohio girl who had to have a hysterectomy after giving birth.

It’s almost like you people are blaming Clarence Thomas for her plight, rather than her rapist.

Bizarre.

It's because this thread is ABOUT the fact she was denied an abortion where she lived. Had she been able to get an abortion in her home state without traveling then the thread could be about the outrage of child rape.

It's almost as though you think nothing can be done about her plight. But we think otherwise.

This is the world forced birthers want. Free and easy rape and women punished for it, and they don’t care who gets punished, even ten year old rape victims - seriously WTF is wrong with the pp implying that this could be anything but rape.

Abortion is healthcare.

Yeah. You know what we’re really, really great at in this country? Locking up sexual predators.

It took a massive publicity campaign to reach the incredibly low bar of *testing rape kits* from rapes which had already been reported. A few states haven’t even started. Will it shock anyone to learn those states are also the ones passing restrictive abortion laws?

Let’s also not forget the abusive father’s parental rights will always trump the child’s wishes or safety.

I am outraged and heartbroken. Soon Indiana will ban abortion and then where will children like this go? Do you have any idea the toll of pregnancy and childbirth on a child this young? I agree with PP, abortion is healthcare.

Does the article say in the last half that she can get it in Ohio this or next week as nothing has gone into effect. So the article is projecting how bad it will be later when any tighter law is in effect. Then must go to one of the other neighboring states.

They must publicize more. How can we help?

The neighboring states that are all making abortion laws tighter?

Do any of the forced birthers care about the desperation and panic this is going to cause? How much death?
