I'm sorry, are you saying she could have consented?

I think the bigger story is how and how long has this adolescent been raped and by whom.
Article says she’ll get her abortion in Ohio, and by now already has. And pontificates about the future of the states abortion limits.

It’s almost like you people are blaming Clarence Thomas for her plight, rather than her rapist.

Bizarre.

Very true. The fixation is real.

Since Friday, the abortion clinics where Dr. Katie McHugh, an independent obstetrician-gynecologists works have seen “an insane amount of requests” from pregnant people in Kentucky and Ohio, where it is far more difficult to get an abortion.

A ban on abortions after six weeks took effect on last week in Ohio. Last Friday the two abortion providers in Kentucky shut their doors after that state’s trigger law banning abortions went into effect.

Indiana soon could have similar restrictions.

This is nuts.

No, this is exactly as the GOP has planned. They don’t care about collateral damage like a raped 10 year old, so long as those dirty women get what they deserve.

And to forced birthers who think we’re obsessing over the fact that this child couldn’t get medical care in her own state rather than the abortion: YOU DON’T TAKE RAPE SERIOUSLY EVER. Stop pretending like you care about it.

Obviously the rapist (likely the father) should be jailed and kept far, far away from any children ever again. Rape is illegal, we have a system in place to convict and lock up rapists (obviously an imperfect system.)

However, this child needs healthcare urgently. She should not need to bear her rapist’s child. And the SC and red states are trying to make such healthcare illegal. It is horrifying.

I can’t imagine the horror of being a child victim of rape, but the idea of being forced to be pregnant… I found pregnancy to be a painful, unpleasant condition and I was a healthy, consenting adult. It makes me want to retch thinking of the whole thing.

(And judging by half the entries on the GOP corruption thread, her rapist is probably someone in the GOP.)

Yes. Read the first paragraph.

On Monday three days after the Supreme Court issued its groundbreaking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist, took a call from a colleague, a child abuse doctor in Ohio.

The child was raped at age 10, and was 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant on Monday, June 26th.

Already that was too late to end the pregnancy in the state of Ohio. A pregnancy in a TEN YEAR OLD GIRL.

What the absolute hell?

Does the article say in the last half that she can get it in Ohio this or next week as nothing has gone into effect. So the article is projecting how bad it will be later when any tighter law is in effect. Then must go to one of the other neighboring states.

No, in Ohio the ban went into effect as soon as SC overturned Roe.

That’s not what the article says. She had to travel to Indiana because it’s already banned in Ohio.

Why are you lying? The entire article was about her having to travel to IN because abortion is illegal in OH after 6 weeks, even for children who were raped. This isn’t a hypothetical about the future. This is happening now. Stop spreading lies.

Stop lying. Abortion is illegal after 6 weeks in OH. This isn’t projection. This is what you wanted. Why aren’t you celebrating instead of spreading lies about what the people you voted for worked so hard to achieve? You can’t even stop lying after you won your evil war against women.

Where’s the joy, forced birthers?! This is what you wanted.

I’m glad all the outrage here is directed at the Supreme Court, rather than the rapist who raped a 10 year old.

Bravo!

We can multitask. The point is the government is traumatizing this child all over again. This is on you too.

Having trouble looking in the mirror?

You wanted this.,

Stop being obtuse! There are two horrible actions that happened here:

1. 10-year old was raped

2. 10-year old was forced to travel outside her state for an abortion because abortion (after 6 weeks) is now illegal in Ohio where she lives.

We are outraged at both of them. However, this thread is about the outrage over 2. because the law was changed recently in Ohio based on the recent Supreme Court's ruling. That is what we are discussing.

I hope you now understand the current outrage over the Supreme Court's ruling that we are discussing. That doesn't take away from our constant outrage over rape.

Bravo!

Does she have a lawyer or what is her home life situation that 10 yos are getting pregnant?

What a stupid question ⁉️. If a ten year old is pregnant then what the hell do you think her home life is like!!!!
