I hope the legend in his own mind who killed someone OVER A CAR goes to prison for a very, very, very long time.

Do you really think that’s a possibility?

Of course it is. I would fully expect the shooter to be charged with a crime.

Do you prefer the shooter to die like the Uber driver who died in the hands of two young women who wre 13 and 14 years old?
Or, do you want the shooter die like the young doctor who were run over by his car driven by the carjackers?
These carjack victims are dead, never got a chance to see the sun again, never got a chance to hug their mother, father, son, daughter, girl friend, or grandchildren again.
The carjackers will walk on DC street soon or already.

The shooter saved herself and another perso’s life.

What I prefer is that armed private citizens not open fire in public. There is zero evidence the shooter’s life was in immediate danger

You mean, an armed off duty police officer. Right?

Yes, absolutely. Assuming that’s even the shooter. That hasn’t been established as fact, either. But if it’s true that an off-duty Baltimore police officer used deadly force in a property crime, she needs to go to prison for a very, very long time.

As an attorney with experience in criminal law, I can tell you that a carjacking, much like an armed robbery, is not solely a "property crime." It is very much a crime against a person and often a violent one at that. And like others have noted, this person will most certainly NOT be going to prison.

There is zero evidence of ANYTHING at this point except 2 shot, 1 killed, 2 more arrested. The police are calling it a failed carjacking.

Why the obstinance and insistence the shooter is the bad guy. He may or may not be.

Seems like you are a troll trying to push moderates to the right, law and order. Enough of you.

The shooter may have just saved your life or the life of your good friend or loved one from the being the next victim of these criminals.

Evidence is a courtroom concept. What you are seeking is information. Any carjacking if a weapon is used is not a property crime. Deadly force by anyone would be allowed. As it should. Once a gun or knife is shown or even hinted at by the attacker, deadly force is fine to use. That is a good thing.

Why would you expect that? Just curious?

I disagree it's sad for everyone involved but I assume you have donated to the GoFundMe his mother set up and will be attending the candlelight vigil his mom arranged for him?

I can't believe it, there is a GoFundMe for the 18 year old that died. Are GFM allowed for something like this? All it says is that his life ended abruptly. I have some sympathy for a parent whose child makes bad decisions, but this was a majorly bad (and fatal) decision.

I'm glad people can't read my thoughts in person, else I'd be socially isolated forever because I think some pretty shocking things.

case in point: this young man experienced a natural consequence of his actions and I am not sorry for him. Society is in all likelihood better off without him.

Despite believing this, he probably had someone who loved him (a mother?) and they cannot afford a casket and embalming. That's pathetic, and I it actually makes me a little sad for _them_

I agree that paying for funeral/casket/cremation, etc are VERY expensive; I just paid for my parent's and had major sticker shock. I imagine for most people it is a very large expense. I take sympathy with that. Looks like they're from Suitland, Maryland, and quick google searches show more info. So these kids basically drive across the bridge, take first exit into OT, drive north 1 mile, probably with the expectations to commit this crime and get right back on 495.

However, I find this just beyond the pale to do a gofundme under these circumstances. And to add to that, WaPo did a p!ss poor attempt at regurgitating the Alexandria police reports (aka just copied and pasted the info basically) where they call the other assailant that was shot, in the hospital and who is charged with car jacking the "victim". That's beyond a head scratcher. A victim?

You can read it for yourself here (and no comments are allowed).I can't believed someone would get paid for this article.

I find it odd that you’re so upset about this article. Police aren’t releasing other details now for reasons we can’t know.

Who are these posters who continue to characterize armed carjacking as a property crime?! I am the Pp who served on a grand jury. This is not a property crime. Property crime is auto theft. Armed carjacking is a crime of violence.

I’m not upset about the article, not sure why you are so dramatic. I thought it was bad journalism to 1) call one of the car jackers a victim and 2) basically just copy almost word for word the police report. What’s the point? That’s all. No need to infer anything about me. I can have my opinion re journalism and you can have yours and everything will be ok. You have a nice day.

Agree. If they showed a knife, or a gun, then they deserved what they got. If that kid getting shot makes some of his fellow would-be carjackers think twice, that's a good thing.

Hilarious that there is a GFM for the dead shooter. I hope the shooter sues his estate for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

there has got to be a lawyer out that that can set this up in 15 minutes.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Weapon or no weapon, when people are pulled from their own vehicles or threatened to give up their vehicle by criminals, it is not simply a property crime.
