I hope the legend in his own mind who killed someone OVER A CAR goes to prison for a very, very, very long time.

Do you really think that’s a possibility?

Of course it is. I would fully expect the shooter to be charged with a crime.

Do you prefer the shooter to die like the Uber driver who died in the hands of two young women who wre 13 and 14 years old?
Or, do you want the shooter die like the young doctor who were run over by his car driven by the carjackers?
These carjack victims are dead, never got a chance to see the sun again, never got a chance to hug their mother, father, son, daughter, girl friend, or grandchildren again.
The carjackers will walk on DC street soon or already.

The shooter saved herself and another perso’s life.

What I prefer is that armed private citizens not open fire in public. There is zero evidence the shooter’s life was in immediate danger

You mean, an armed off duty police officer. Right?

Yes, absolutely. Assuming that’s even the shooter. That hasn’t been established as fact, either. But if it’s true that an off-duty Baltimore police officer used deadly force in a property crime, she needs to go to prison for a very, very long time.

As an attorney with experience in criminal law, I can tell you that a carjacking, much like an armed robbery, is not solely a "property crime." It is very much a crime against a person and often a violent one at that. And like others have noted, this person will most certainly NOT be going to prison.

Who are these posters who continue to characterize armed carjacking as a property crime?! I am the Pp who served on a grand jury. This is not a property crime. Property crime is auto theft. Armed carjacking is a crime of violence.

There's some sort of new age virtue signaling where people believe criminals have the moral right to commit crimes if they can articulate a valid reason, usually being poor, systemic racism, or in DC they claim carjackings happen to house kids from the cold weather.

there has got to be a lawyer out that that can set this up in 15 minutes.

While it is in poor taste to have it publicly available, it seems like the funds are being raised to pay for a funeral rather than capitalize on the death.

How many people would this bother? I am pretty sure it would not bother me if I killed people breaking into my house or car jacking me. Is that a minority view?

My only concern would be retribution from the relatives of the person who was shot. Eye for an eye. “He was just taking her car not goin hurt her” could spur violent elements

They are too busy collecting money on the go fund me account then to plan a retribution.

"Carjacking IS a petty crime.

Murdering a petty criminal is NOT a petty crime. "

I'm glad people can't read my thoughts in person, else I'd be socially isolated forever because I think some pretty shocking things.

case in point: this young man experienced a natural consequence of his actions and I am not sorry for him. Society is in all likelihood better off without him.

Despite believing this, he probably had someone who loved him (a mother?) and they cannot afford a casket and embalming. That's pathetic, and I it actually makes me a little sad for _them_

Good grief this is all sad/terrible!

I'd like to meet this local hero myself.

I know kids who were playing on Simpson Field when this went down. It was scary. This could have ended much worse.

The mother is probably in shock. He was still her baby even if he was a criminal.

I don't agree with the people saying the shooter should be charged but I'm pretty sickened by people calling the carjackers animals, thugs, etc and mocking the dead guy's mom's grief.

He made a terrible choice and it led to a terrible outcome. I hope that the car driver is able to live with what happened, I hope the other young men involved are punished appropriately and scared straight, and I hope we can find a way to deal with teenagers committing carjackings as some kind of trend that doesn't involve cheering anyone's death.

A terrible choice is eating a large pizza 20 minutes before getting on a roller coaster.

Threatening someone's life over a car is a different animal.

I do cheer his death because I know my city, my children, and my friends are better off with him dead. Hopefully he didn't breed.

Until they themselves are carjacked with a gun pointed in the back of their head with their infant child strapped in a car seat.

You're definitely the exact person I was talking about.
