How many people would this bother? I am pretty sure it would not bother me if I killed people breaking into my house or car jacking me. Is that a minority view?

My only concern would be retribution from the relatives of the person who was shot. Eye for an eye. “He was just taking her car not goin hurt her” could spur violent elements

They are too busy collecting money on the go fund me account then to plan a retribution.

Go to Facebook. "They killed my only son today."

STOP! Really??? I can't. We are all doomed.

NP. Yes. And there’s apparently a candlelight vigil tomorrow where they will release balloons. The last words her song spoke were “stay strong” and that we all need to stay strong to keep your sanity in this corrupt world.

This woman is obviously in grief and I cannot imagine losing a child. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt but absolutely no where does it say anything about the crimes her son committed or how he got in a situation to get shot. Her Instagram isn’t much better.

UFB! Do parents of criminals think their kids are at church when they were out at night?

He made a terrible choice and it led to a terrible outcome. I hope that the car driver is able to live with what happened, I hope the other young men involved are punished appropriately and scared straight, and I hope we can find a way to deal with teenagers committing carjackings as some kind of trend that doesn't involve cheering anyone's death.

I will gladly and loudly cheer his death. No more money wasted on trying to “rehabilitate” someone beyond redemption. The shooter surely saved another victim from the carjacker. She deserves applause as well.

It’s very possible these kids attempted to carjack the person in which case the victim was certainly justified in defending themselves (though it does not seem humane to bray about an 18 year olds death and even less so his mother’s grief) however I’m going yo reserve judgment until the footage from the gas station is released. The police have shown again and again they simply do not deserve the benefit of the doubt in their first description of events.

3 people have been charged with carjacking (and it would have been 4 if one of them hadn’t died). Please stop with your narrative. Just stop.

Look I agree they probably did it and video (if the gas station has video) will reveal it but you can’t be ignorant of the fact that many times police come out strong and then it turns out (often via video evidence!) that they were absolutely FOS. Surely that’s not a new concept to you!

Video? There were WITNESSES at the gas station and at GWMS. Lots of witnesses. So again, stop. It only makes you look like a conspiracy theorist.

I hope the legend in his own mind who killed someone OVER A CAR goes to prison for a very, very, very long time.

Do you really think that’s a possibility?

Of course it is. I would fully expect the shooter to be charged with a crime.

Do you prefer the shooter to die like the Uber driver who died in the hands of two young women who wre 13 and 14 years old?
Or, do you want the shooter die like the young doctor who were run over by his car driven by the carjackers?
These carjack victims are dead, never got a chance to see the sun again, never got a chance to hug their mother, father, son, daughter, girl friend, or grandchildren again.
The carjackers will walk on DC street soon or already.

The shooter saved herself and another perso’s life.

What I prefer is that armed private citizens not open fire in public. There is zero evidence the shooter’s life was in immediate danger

You mean, an armed off duty police officer. Right?

Yes, absolutely. Assuming that’s even the shooter. That hasn’t been established as fact, either. But if it’s true that an off-duty Baltimore police officer used deadly force in a property crime, she needs to go to prison for a very, very long time.

One of the would be carjackers admitted that they were armed with a gun and had brass knuckles, but keeping thinking that the victim will face charges and spend a long time in prison. You could not put together a jury of 12 people who would unanimously convict her knowing that.

The mother was on channel 9 last night. She admits she thinks her son was armed. She definitely seems in shock and in grief. But this is ridiculous, trying to drum up sympathy for the assailants. Even the news anchor at the end says “well this is just multilayered and hard to understand”. How is it hard to understand? JFC.

People are talking about carjacking as a poperty crime. I guess it could be. If someone came up to you with no weapon and said give me your car. That does not happen because most people -- almost all men and many women would say -- no. So the carjacker needs a weapon. Now it's not a property crime. Now it is a violent crime. If the gun is pointed at the victim, which it kind of has to be to make a real threat -- an attempted murder charge could be made. Now with a weapon -- deadly force is allowed in response. It is not a property crime.

For the love of God, I cannot some people's inability to grasp the very simple fact that, weapon or no weapon, a carjacking by force or threat of force is not merely a property crime...it is a crime against a person. Stealing someone's parked car in the middle of the night is a property crime. Carjacking is an entirely different animal.

An explicit weapon isn't necessary in Virginia. A threat of force or implication of a weapon is sufficient. Just because it's a finger in your coat pocket, doesn't mean it wasn't perceived as a gun.

The mom says he was already in the drivers seat where was the threat? And WHY did he have to be shot--"How did he look at you" then admits HE HAD A GUN. Um the threat is the GUN HE USED TO CAR JACK THE POOR GUY THAT HAD TO SHOOT YOUR SON FOR HIS OWN LIFE. You can't make this up. You can't fix this kind of person.
