Are we sleep walking into nuclear confrontation?

I feel like politicians are forgetting we are stretching a nuclear power nation.

Americans are almost incapable of realizing other countries have interests similar to their own and act in similarly predictable ways.

What do you think would happen if China decided to install missile silos/garrison an army/etc etc in Mexico with the full cooperation of their government? Actually, think is the wrong word. What do you KNOW would happen?

Now look at Ukraine and Russia and see if you can put two and two together and work out how this entire situation could have easily been avoided.

At this point, most Americans don't care because a nuclear war would put them out of their misery after dealing with 6+ years of Trumpers. It's not much of a threat anymore.

Look Russia's not going to nuke us directly and highly unlikely to use the tactical nuclear weapon on Ukraine. In the end of the day they know that it's an unwinnable war and they'd only be signing their own death warrant. That's the point of mutually assured destruction ladies and gentlemen. Russia has 5977 nukes in their stockpile of which 1588 are operational (I bet it's actually lower given their recent performance) against our 5428 stockpile of which 1644 are operational. When you add in NATO our total stockpile goes to 6300. Putin's posturing is just to scare us away from supporting Ukraine because he's getting his butt-handed to him by what was the 24th ranked military in 2021. He's Bluffing!

As far as NATO expansion is concerned the only places that don't seem to get invaded are NATO members. I think it'll be easier to argue that have we made Ukraine and NATO member this recent assault would not have happened. However that would have been difficult given the timing of everything that happened back in 2014. Also when you say NATO expanded it's not as no NATO forces Nations to join these nations apply because they want the protection that the alliance provides. That's why Finland and Sweden right now look around and say hey I guess we better join. I think the real lesson for the world in all this is if you continually back down from bullies they will keep coming.

Further, given the atrocities occurring in Ukraine at the hands of the Russians I'm really surprised that anyone really believes we shouldn't at least support Ukraine by providing military aid.

Also realize that China is sitting back observing this deciding how they will approach Taiwan I promise you if we back down they're going for it.
Honestly I can't tell if OP is just pro Russian or really has their head in the clouds. Either way it doesn't matter.

As long as the subs and mobile land based ICBMs are operational (and they are) it doesn't matter how many nukes they have because the answer is "enough to destroy every major city in a retaliatory strike."

Russia can't even invade half of Ukraine. I'm sure they have nuclear weapons and might be willing to use them, but their track record is pretty awful right now.

I'd take them more seriously if they were sending soldiers over to rape Americans while the SC is rolling back Roe.

I am not pro Russia and very sad what happened in Ukraine but at the same time I know bad wars happen all the time.
Putin had a distractive war in Chechnya and Syria. Ours was in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya with bad results.
Saudi Arabia is demolishing Yemen as with speak.
My point is there is a big risk for miscalculation and mistakes.
