Are we sleep walking into nuclear confrontation?

DCUM won’t be satisfied until Russian MIRV’s are dropping on us.

Although everyone essentially knows we are feeding intelligence like mad to the Ukrainians - I really think Kiev would have fallen without the intelligence support of the west - it is surprising any administration official would speak to this in any way.

I feel like politicians are forgetting we are stretching a nuclear power nation.

Let's not create a policy based on metaphors.

"The Elders tell of a young ball much like you. He bounced three meters in the air. Then he bounced 1.8 meters in the air. Then he bounced four meters in the air. Do I make myself clear?"

Rubber band metaphor was said about NATO expansion .

im gonna bite and remind you that putin stretched the rubber band in question, not anyone else. And what else would we do? Just let it happen? How conciliatory you are.

1)We should have not expanded NATO membership once the USSR collapsed.
2) I would have said we are not expanding NATO to your door steps.

Americans are almost incapable of realizing other countries have interests similar to their own and act in similarly predictable ways.

What do you think would happen if China decided to install missile silos/garrison an army/etc etc in Mexico with the full cooperation of their government? Actually, think is the wrong word. What do you KNOW would happen?

Now look at Ukraine and Russia and see if you can put two and two together and work out how this entire situation could have easily been avoided.

i agree with you that Americans dont understand that other countries may have the interest (if they had the strenght), to act like the US. but in this case, Ukraine was not in Nato, was nowhere near being admitted to into Nato, there was no threat whatsoever of missiles being installed in Ukraine any time soon. Russia started a violenti invasion of the entire country with carpet bombing of cities, civilian targets, widepsread massacres of civilians and so on. this is not because of Nato, is because Ukraine was getting closer to be a successful western democracy.

as a result, Russia will have a long border with a Nato country, Finland. let's see how that works. Finland has an arny, is in the EU so an attack to Finland would be an attack to the EU, which has many countries in Nato.

Russia may not give a shit about Finland, did you count that into your equation? If they care less to attack Finland then what?

Then they'll get their ass kicked on two fronts.

Well we’ve all learned in the past month plus that the Russian military is a joke and that the Emperor has no clothes.

No we’re not.

We’ll help paper up half of Ukraine to go to Russia by year end. Mass media will call it a “success” for Biden and Harris. Just gotta get through the midterms, then send a draft around.

This. I don't understand all the fear of Russia and Putin now.

Could they use nuclear weapons? Sure, but they will be worse off thqn we are.

Assume that Putin has kompromat on many Republicans, so that's why conservatives are so "pro Russia" these days.

So when does the annexation talks begin? June? September? January?

We need to be tough on Russia and give countries like Ukraine the ability to defend themselves without provoking Russia into desperation. Talking about an outright defeat of Russia, regime change, etc is extremely stupid and reckless because any existential threat to Russia OR Putin's regime is going to be met with a nuclear response by them. The US needs to adopt a containment policy and accept the fact that peaceful coexistence with them means not directly intervening in conflicts on their doorstep. That doesn't mean we can't try to punish them by limiting their economic growth via sanctions, or give weapons to the Ukrainians, but saying things like Putin's regime must be defeated and gone, or threatening to directly intervene if certain lines are crossed, is extremely foolhardy, as bad as Putin is. He is going nowhere unfortunately. There are other dirtbags like Kim Jong Un who we can't get rid of either.

You think Putin reads U.S. mass media or DCUM?!? And if he does read it you think he can’t tell a lazy OpEd from reporting actual facts?
