Here's how you set it.
"Bosses, I need to be off at ×yz time every day." Outcome 1 Ok nanny we didn't realize that, we will work on that. Thank you for bringing it to our attention Outcome 2 Ok nanny, well with out work schedule (if we are working from home or not) that may not work. Perhaps we all start looking for something new. We will be bringing in a new nanny in 2 weeks. |

I'm in LA and I agree with the other LA poster.
I've been working in LA as a nanny for 35 years. I've ALWAYS had a contract. I've never heard of a nanny with out one here in LA. Are you new to the nanny world???? |
Gotta love the people that come here and say stuff like this. “Well... in my situation...” No, shut up. This is obviously a completely different situation and literally not about you at all. What works for one may not work for others. Also, it’s true that if the parents were getting off at five (working outside the home), they wouldn’t possibly be able to get back by five. If that was the case, though, they would not have offered you the shift of 8:30-5. |
No, if she needs/wants a job that has a regular schedule, then she would apply for one. You know, like she did with this one. You know, where the parents said the hours were 8:30-5. Every day. Regular schedule. They didn’t say her flexibility was required for any number of days during the week. She and her employers had an agreement, but it is not playing out the way it should, so she’s having an issue. |
Yes thank you someone who understands!!!! That’s why I took the job because the hours didn’t include commute time since they both work from home. I know that if they had worked outside the home maybe it would’ve been 10-12 hour shifts and I would have declined the offer. But they made it clear to me that it would be 8 hour shifts since they work from home. |
Yes thank you. People don’t seem to understand that we had discussed 8:30-5. |

Grow up
Talk to your employers Ranting and complaining here does no good. If your job doesn’t fit your lifestyle anymore turn in your two weeks. There are plenty of other jobs. Simple done, that’s what all other adults do in the working adult world. |
I am grown. This post was just to get people’s opinions. And not everyone quits their job just because they don’t like it. |
Than man up and actually TALK TO YOUR BOSSES. You’re the employee, they are the bosses. So yes if the JOB you took doesn’t work out anymore. You quit. Damn it’s simple. Complaining here and being all high and mighty that no one has been or in your situation isn’t going to solve a thing. Have you even messaged them or emailed them to have a chat tomorrow morning? Or are you just going to complain and never bring it up to them. |
| I really don’t think that everyone has the luxury of just walking out of any job they don’t like. |

Hey so skimmed the comments.
You're in LA. You need to join our nanny group!!! Another nanny in her mentioned the group (she told me at brunch today). Seriously join, have some friends. We are all doing nannypoolza together. We hang out when we can. (We are all over LA so it gets tough work days) but we go to the movies, have dinners, game nights, go to universal, go to bars, hike. Someone mentioned camping!! Can't wait. It's always nice to have people in the same career field to talk to!!!! Also people in the same area! California has some specific laws and rules. I've learned so much in the past few years. |
Hi, op here. What’s the name of the group? I would love to join and meet up and learn everything I can. |
| Any nanny groups in the Chevy Chase/Tenleytown area? |
Man up!?!? Are you serious? Standing up for oneself has NOTHING to do with your genitals. My guess is that OP is female and you are par for the course in this patriarchal society. |
