You are humanizing a terrorist organization. To the Hamas supporters on this board, make no mistake that your "friends" would come for you in a heartbeat. I don't care what religion you practice.

I have a few questions that maybe you guys can help me with. I have always been curious about Religion in general, but never really meet a lot of religious people that I can ask some questions that I have . So here it goes :
-If you're Christian: Do you guys have a certain number of mandatory prayers that you do every day? For ex, Muslims pray 5 time a day.Does it depend on what branch of Christianity you follow? What is the difference between Catholics, Protestants and Methodists? Can you guys go to each other's churches?
-Jews: Shalom. What do you guys consider "Kosher". Muslims eat "Halal" but If I don't see something halal at the store, I usually buy Kosher because I was told that is very similar to Halal, even though I really don't know what Kosher fully means, I think I understand the concept but never really asked a jewish person, so maybe you can help me out? Also, do you guys have a certain number of mandatory daily prayers like the Muslims do? Do you do ablutions before prayers?
That's all guys, thanks
Muslima
Welcome. I am a Conservative Jew. I am not completely observant myself (we usually only eat kosher meat in our home, but I will eat nonkosher meat out, and we do not keep two sets of dishes, etc).
My understanding is that the requirements for how an animal is slaughtered are similar as between kosher and hallal. The prayers said over the slaugher are of course different, and while SOME imams accept the consumption of kosher meat where hallal is not available, as far as I know NO jewish legal authority, either Orthodox or Conservative does so. Some Jews I know will eat Hallal in place of kosher meat - both because its often very difficult to find kosher meat (and they are unwilling to forego meat entirely) and for the sake of peace.
Salaam/shalom

Just so I understand, the Islamic position is that the first followers got it right, but other so-called Christians persecuted and killed them, and then imposed their own version of what Jesus said? This would make Mohammed's message, which is indeed different from Jesus' message on many counts, a "correction" to the renegade Christians. Correct me if I'm wrong!

It's well known that there is limited free press in Gaza, other reporters have been harassed or kicked out for not toeing Hamas's line. This is indicative of how Hamas operates.

I read this. Of course no one is going to believe it.

Well, you were the one who posted about it.
I was responding to the PP who mentioned Argentinas history with Nazis
I understand that it is the least of your concerns, However, the purpose of this forum is to respond to the postings of others and have a conversation of sorts. You mentioned the remarks of the Argentina president and other people posted comments that provided a context in which to view those remarks ( in this case, the history of former Nazi's, the Jews and the current anti-Semitism in that country).
You have been posting a lot lately on this forum which is great. You have a valuable voice to add to the discussion. However, information and education are also valuable. It is important to take into context the comments of world leaders. Dismissing information that may provide that context with a "that is the least of my concerns..." is not very intellectually honest.

They are movie actors. Why does their opinion matter more than your opinion or mine? Those two actors opinions are certainly not worth a big announcement any more than if it was my neighbor's down the street.
