Nope.

Just get annoyed when someone announces an actor's tweet, retweet or fb post as some grand and profound statement on significant world events.

I have to agree with this.

And that's why Bono drives me nuts, too.

Well, you were the one who posted about it.

I was responding to the PP who mentioned Argentinas history with Nazis

I understand that it is the least of your concerns, However, the purpose of this forum is to respond to the postings of others and have a conversation of sorts. You mentioned the remarks of the Argentina president and other people posted comments that provided a context in which to view those remarks ( in this case, the history of former Nazi's, the Jews and the current anti-Semitism in that country).

You have been posting a lot lately on this forum which is great. You have a valuable voice to add to the discussion. However, information and education are also valuable. It is important to take into context the comments of world leaders. Dismissing information that may provide that context with a "that is the least of my concerns..." is not very intellectually honest.

You might think that those tweets are insignificant but they are not. How many times do you see someone get fired because of a tweet or a show getting dropped by a network because of it? We live in a time where social media is powerful. A few weeks ago , Rihanna and Dwight Howard tweeted #freePalestine and were bullied into deleting the tweets. We're having an entire civilian population being bombed, and yet, an athlete tweeting?#?freepalestine? is smacked down with an immediacy that speaks to how desperate Israel and their backers are to keep them insulated from even a whiff of criticism. I am not mad at Dwight Howard or Rihanna for deleting those tweets. I wanted to thank them. I wanted to thank them for showing with utter clarity what few will say openly: that acknowledging the humanity of the Palestinian people comes with a price.

What's it like being Muslim? Well, it's hard to find a decent halal pizza place and occasionally there is a hashtag calling for your genocide...

I think the references to Argentina's harboring war criminals in relation to Kirshner's comments are disingenous.

If she's coming from anywhere, it's from the background of a left-wing politician who opposes whatever the US supports. It is extremely unlikely that her government's decisions are influenced in any meaningful way by immigration decisions made in Argentina over 60 years ago.

Cruz and Bardem, by the way, are Spanish, not Argentinian.

I agree, thank you for pointing that out and I apologize for dismissing your comment. It is just that not only in this forum, but every platform, when a positive remark is made towards Palestine, automatically people come back with "but there was the Holocaust, but Arabs killed jews , Muslims are killing each other, ect" it seems like every wrong that was done in the past is used to justify the current wrong being done now but I shouldnt have dismissed your comment.

As I understand it, "#PrayforGaza" is understood as an expression of empathy for Gaza civilians, whereas "#FreePalestine" is understood to mean the dissolution of Israel and its replacement with a state in which Jews might or might not be welcome. Maybe it has something to do with the political platform of those who started using that hshtag in the first instance.

Please feel free to address.

The oldest DCUM ploy in the book is to suggest that everyone who disagrees with you is but a single poster. Please try to be a bit more original.

PP, I never made that distinction and don't think most people think about dissolving Israel when they tweet that. What you have to understand is most Palestinians are more concerned about a free Palestine than destroying Israel

They are movie actors. Why does their opinion matter more than your opinion or mine? Those two actors opinions are certainly not worth a big announcement any more than if it was my neighbor's down the street.

Because usually, people don't care about anonymous people posting on a forum, but celebrities, head of states and people who have a big following can voice these messages and get heard better than you and I. It is for that same reason that the UN uses celebrities as ambassadors, not for their looks......

But they really aren't even celebrities, just actors.

They are also not known for being great minds, humanitarians, philanthropists, well educated or anything notable besides acting.

So they are mediocre actors with a twitter account. Big deal.

Bardem is a celebrity in the USA. And they posted their letter in the Spain's major newspaper, where they live. Both Cruz and Bardem are major celebrities in Spain.

Kind of an amusing putdown of two gifted and talented artists when you juxtapose with the praise of Howard Stern, a porn-addled shock jock, on another thread.

You obviously don't appreciate good movies. I would not call Bardem mediocre. He starred in: No Country for Old Men, Skyfall, Before Night Falls, and Love in the time of Cholera to name a few. Magnificient actor.

I never said if I agree or disagree with her.

I just noticed a prolific number of anti Israel or pro Palestine threads clogging up the recent topics feed these past few days or so.

They are all started in the exact same way with the exact same writing style. Then muslima pops in l, usually almost immediately, and begins to post responses over and over. This is on every single thread about this topic.

It is like the BO poster, starting threads and then repeatedly responding to them.

This just seems like the same thing and makes me wonder if she is starting all these threads.

What on earth are you talking about and what does Howard Stern have to do with anything important?
